The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. This high-resolution NHD, generally developed at 1:24,000/1:12,000 scale, adds detail to the original 1:100,000-scale NHD. (Data for Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands was developed at high-resolution, not 1:100,000 scale.) Local resolution NHD is being developed where partners and data exist. The NHD contains reach codes for networked features, flow direction, names, and centerline representations for areal water...

The LANDFIRE fuel data describe the composition and characteristics of both surface fuel and canopy fuel. Specific products include fire behavior fuel models, canopy bulk density (CBD), canopy base height (CBH), canopy cover (CC), canopy height (CH), and fuel loading models (FLMs). These data may be implemented within models to predict the behavior and effects of wildland fire. These data are useful for strategic fuel treatment prioritization and tactical assessment of fire behavior and effects. DATA SUMMARY: Thirteen typical surface fuel arrangements or "collections of fuel properties" (Anderson 1982) were described to serve as input for Rothermel's mathematical surface fire behavior and spread model (Rothermel...

This dataset represents all of the Historical Trails in Wyoming, including those designated as National Historic Trails.
From the US Bureau of Mines map publication, "Availability of Federally Owned Minerals for Exploration and Development in the Western United States". The Bureau of Mines inventoried Federal mineral land in Wyoming and assessed the availability of this land for mineral exploration and development as affected by legal status and agency management practices. To illustrate the impact that various Federal land use decisions have on the mineral industry, the USBM also identified and ranked known mineral deposit areas (KMDAs)-i.e., areas having past or present mineral production and /or known mineral resources- and compared these areas spatially with availability of Federal mineral lands. Most Federal minerals, except...

The LANDFIRE existing vegetation layers describe the following elements of existing vegetation for each LANDFIRE mapping zone: existing vegetation type, existing vegetation canopy cover, and existing vegetation height. Vegetation is mapped using predictive landscape models based on extensive field reference data, satellite imagery, biophysical gradient layers, and classification and regression trees. DATA SUMMARY: The existing vegetation type (EVT) data layer represents the current distribution of the terrestrial ecological systems classification developed by NatureServe for the western Hemisphere (http://www.natureserve.org/publications/usEcologicalsystems.jsp). A terrestrial ecological system is defined as a group...

Vegetation is mapped using predictive landscape models based on extensive field reference data, satellite imagery, biophysical gradient layers, and classification and regression trees. DATA SUMMARY: The existing vegetation cover (EVC) data layer is an important input to LANDFIRE modeling efforts. EVC is generated separately for tree, shrub and herbaceous cover life forms using training data and a series of geospatial data layers. Percentage tree canopy cover training data are generated using digital...

These data may be implemented within models to predict the behavior and effects of wildland fire. DATA SUMMARY: Canopy height describes the average height of the top of the canopy for a stand. A spatially-explicit map of canopy height supplies information for fire behavior models such as FARSITE (Finney 1998) to determine...

A spatially explicit map of canopy bulk density supplies information used in fire...

The NPMS Public Map Viewer enables the user to view National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) data one county at a time. NPMS data consists of gas transmission pipelines and hazardous liquid trunklines. It does not contain gathering or distribution pipelines, such as lines which deliver gas to a customer's home. Therefore, not all pipelines in an area will be visible in the Public Map Viewer. To view the data, select a state and then a county from the drop-down lists. To view another county, close the Public Viewer window, return to the home page of the NPMS website and click the NPMS Public Map Viewer button again. The user may zoom in to a map scale of 1:24,000. Data cannot be downloaded from the Public Viewer.

The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the sream segments or reaches that comprise the nation's surface water drainage system. Medium resolution NHD is based on the content of the U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale Digital Line Graph (DLG) hydrography data, integrated with reach-related information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Reach File Version 3.0 (RF3). More specifically, it contains reach codes for networked features and isolated lakes, flow direction, names, stream level, and centerline representations for areal water bodies. Reaches are also defined to represent water bodies and the approximate shorelines of the Great...

This dataset contains geochemical data for soils collected in the United States and analyzed in the analytical laboratories of the Geologic Division of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). These data represent analyses of soil samples collected in support of various USGS programs. The data were originally entered into the in-house PLUTO database which was used by the Geologic Division from the mid- 1970's through the mid-1990's to archive geochemical data. A portion of the PLUTO data base is published as: Baedecker, P.A., Grossman, J.N., and Buttleman, K.P., 1998, National Geochemical Data base: PLUTO geochemical data base for the United States: U.S. Geological Survey Digital Data Series DDS-47. The data presented...

This data contains fences within the southwest portion of Wyoming at a 1:100,000 scale. A two and one-half year inventory of fences on federal lands was conducted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from 1990 to 1992. The attribute fields describe the type of fences, the 30 x 60- minute quadrangle map which they are found, the ownership of the land, the year the fence was built, and their location according to township, range and section.
This file contains one of many raster grids of the Elevation Derivatives for National Applications (EDNA), a multi-layered database that provides systematic and consistent topographically-derived hydrologic derivatives. The slope grid was generated from the filled DEM using the "slope" function. The grid was created with the degree, not percent, slope parameter.
