The Arkansas MAV Conservation Delivery Network serves to link the fundamental planning and design functions of the Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture partnership with the delivery programs of conservation partners by establishing a forum for cooperative coordination, leveraging, and targeting of their actions on-the-ground. A goal of the USGS Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) program, which partners the USGS with State Geological Surveys, Federal agencies, and the private sector, is to collect new geological, geophysical, geochemical, and topographic (lidar) data in key areas of the U.S., with the purpose of stimulating domestic mineral exploration and production of critical minerals. As a first step, the Earth MRI program identified regional geographic areas within the United States that may have potential to host deposits containing critical minerals. Delineation of Partners for Fish and Wildlife focus areas was driven by focal species habitats, distributions, core areas, migration patterns, partnerships, and other considerations. With input from internal and external partners, focal species were selected by individual state PFW offices and mostly reflect priority species identified by the FWS Grassland Ecosystem Team and Sagebrush Ecosystem Team.
