Index card: Shortly after the earthquake, large masses of sod were thrown up on the Lake shore; these presumably reflected parts of the floor of Hebgen Lake, which had been broken and disrupted at the time of the earthquake and then moved by the waves of the seiche to their present position. A small falls formed during the earthquake was reduced to a rapids in about one year; now the steep embankments are the only sign that the fault scarp ever cut this stream.
