The State Geologic Map Compilation (SGMC) geodatabase of the conterminous United States (https://doi.org/10.5066/F7WH2N65) represents a seamless, spatial database of 48 State geologic maps that range from 1:50,000 to 1:1,000,000 scale. A national digital geologic map database is essential in interpreting other datasets that support numerous types of national-scale studies and assessments, such as those that provide geochemistry, remote sensing, or geophysical data. This database portrays the surface and shallow subsurface geology of the greater Charleston, S.C. region east of 80°30′ west and south of 33°15′ north. The region covers the entirety of Charleston County and portions of Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, and Georgetown Counties. Units locally exposed at the surface range in age from middle Eocene to Holocene, but most of the area is covered by Quaternary interglacial deposits. These are, from oldest to youngest, the Okefenokee, Waccamaw(?), Penholoway, Ladson, Ten Mile Hill, and Wando Formations and the Silver Bluff beds. This release contains geospatial data digitized from the Map Showing Geology, Structure, and Oil and Gas Fields in the Sterling 1x2 Degree Quadrangle, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas (Scott, 1978) and was compiled as part of the National Geologic Synthesis project. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS), has gathered available geophysical logs and related data from the USGS office archives in Arkansas and Tennessee as a basis for developing a hydrogeologic framework for the Southeast region of the United States. Similar efforts were undertaken by the Mississippi Embayment Regional Aquifer Study (MERAS) and the Regional Aquifer-System Analysis (RASA) Program. The logs compiled for these older efforts were difficult to access from the paper files; however, and partly because of this, older and newer logs were compiled into a single digital database for the current study.

This dataset contains shapefiles and associated metadata for Kīlauea volcano's Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō episode 61g lava flow from May 24, 2016 through May 31, 2017. Episode 61g began with a breakout from the east flank of Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō on May 24, 2016. Lava reached the Pacific Ocean at Kamokuna on July 26, 2017, and began building a lava delta that extended seaward from the original coastline. This lava delta collapsed into the ocean on December 31, 2016, as reflected in the data for January 12, 2017 and thereafter. The lower Paleogene Wilcox Group crops out around the northern edge of the Gulf of Mexico Basin and is a major coal-bearing unit and a primary oil and gas producer in the lower Paleogene section of the Gulf Coast region. The Blue Ridge belt in northwestern North Carolina and northeastern Tennessee is composed chiefly of 1,000-million to 1,100-million-year-old metamorphic and plutonic rocks that have been thrust many miles northwestward across unmetamorphosed Cambrian(?) and Cambrian sedimentary rocks of the Unaka belt.
