This report provides detailed (1:63,360-scale) mapping of the Tanana A-1 and A-2 quadrangles (500 square miles; equivalent to eight 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the Manley Hot Springs-Tofty mining districts and adjacent to the Rampart mining district to the south of the Tanana B-1 Quadrangle. This report includes detailed bedrock, surficial, structural, and stratigraphic data. Based on the resulting geologic maps, field investigations, and laboratory materials analyses, the report also includes derivative maps of geologic construction materials and geologic hazards. The Tanana A-1 and A-2 Quadrangles and surrounding area comprise several isolated mountainous ridges in the western Yukon-Tanana Upland...
The engineering-geologic map is derived electronically, using Geographic Information System (GIS) software, from the surficial-geologic map of the second segment of the proposed natural gas pipeline corridor through the upper Tanana valley, a 12-mi-wide (19.3-km-wide) area that straddles the Alaska Highway through the upper Tanana River valley from the Robertson River eastward to near Tetlin Junction in the Tanacross Quadrangle (Reger and Hubbard, PIR 2009-6A). Surficial-geologic units were initially identified by interpretation of false-color ~1:65,000-scale infrared aerial photographs taken in July 1978, August 1980, and August 1981 and locally verified by field checking in 2007 and 2008. The map shows the distribution...
This Data Release contains geospatially-enabled geological data to accompany the Geologic Map of the Central Beaverhead Mountains, Lemhi County, Idaho, and Beaverhead County, Montana: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3413. This map portrays detailed geology of the central Beaverhead Mountains, printable at 1:50,000 scale. These data were collected between 1997 and 2017, and synthesized to provide significant new stratigraphic and structural data and interpretations. Generalized basin geology compiled from sources on both sides of the range is combined with newly mapped bedrock geology to better integrate geologic development of the map area. These data are shared to meet open data requirements...

This coverage includes arcs, polygons, and polygon labels that describe the generalized geologic age of surface outcrops of bedrock of Svalbard. It also includes shorelines.
This study encompasses the southern part of both the Usery Mountains and the Goldfield Mountains and includes all areas where bedrock is exposed in the Apache Junction and Buckhorn USGS 7.5' topographic quadrangle maps (see figures 1 and 2}. The eastern edge of the study area includes part of the Superstition Mining District and contains many pits and prospects. The region is near the northern margin of the Basin and Range Province and the southern margin of the Transition Zone. Elevations range from about 1280 feet in the northwest comer of the map to 3269 feet near the northeast comer of the map. Field work was carried out between February and April, 1996. Access to the area is good. The Bush Highway, Power Road,...

The Ninetysix Hills of Pinal County, Arizona, consist of a series of low hills and pediment situated about half way between the towns of Florence and Catalina, and are about 70 km ( 45 mi.) north of Tucson (see figure 1). The low spine of hills is underlain by at least four separate granitic plutons. The older pluton, a coarse-grained K-feldspar megacrystic granite exposed in the south, is intruded by a medium-grained granite to granodiorite. Both of these units are locally foliated, but have mineralogic and textural characteristics that suggest they do not belong to the regional suite of 1.65 to 1. 7 Ga-old granites, but are younger. The quartz-porphyritic Teacup granodiorite (Krieger, 1974a, 1974b, Bradfish, 1979)...

This digital map shows the areal extent of surficial deposits and rock stratigraphic units (formations) as compiled by Trimble and Machette from 1973 to 1977 and published in 1979 under the Front Range Urban Corridor Geology Program. Trimble and Machette compiled their geologic map from published geologic maps and unpublished geologic mapping having varied map unit schemes. A convenient feature of the compiled map is its uniform classification of geologic units that mostly matches those of companion maps to the north (USGS I-855-G) and to the south (USGS I-857-F). Published as a color paper map, the Trimble and Machette map was intended for land-use planning in the Front Range Urban Corridor. This map recently (1997-1999)...
This map shows the geology in and around two potential early Apollo landing sites in the lunar equatorial belt. The Wichmann CA region is in Oceanus Procellarum, south of the equator, approximmately 320 km south of the crater Kepler. It is covered by mare material with numerous ridges, low domes, craters, and crater clusters. Relatively few of the craters are larger than 200 m across. Terra material is absent.
Material exposed on the surface of the Moon is heterogeneous. The albedo and other physical characteristics that have been determined with the use of optical and radio telescopes vary from one part of the Moon to another, and the variations are particular correlated with differences in topography. Discontinuities in the areal variation permit the surface material to be divided into map units, each exhibiting a limited range of photometric properties associated with a limited range of topographic characteristics. Each map unit is further characterized by a distinctive pattern of distribution, and the patterns of other units. From the relations of superposition it is possible to determine the sequence in which the...
