Strontium isotope ratios of lavas from Hawaiʻi were analyzed by thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) at the Southwest Isotope Research Laboratories of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Denver. There were at total of 427 analyses of samples obtained from the field, the collections of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO), the University of Hawaiʻi, and the Smithsonian Institution. The samples originated from Kīlauea (historical and prehistoric summit and rift zone lavas), Mauna Loa (historical lavas), and Lōʻihi (submarine lavas of unknown age). Data for associated reference materials are described in the process steps. The Sr isotope ratios may be used to test models for the magmatic plumbing system...

This data release is part of a 2016-2019 study on the geology, geochemistry and geochronology of ore systems in the eastern Yukon-Tanana Upland region, Alaska. Whole rock chemistry was conducted on 185 samples, mostly from Au prospects, with lesser samples from porphyry Cu prospects. Geographically, most samples are from gold prospects near the Pogo Au mine and east to Black Mountain in the Big Delta quadrangle. Fewer samples are from prospects in the Eagle and Tanacross Quadrangles. Samples were submitted to the USGS contract laboratory and analyzed for select trace elements and gold. Sixty elements were determined by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy-mass spectroscopy (ICP-OES-MS), sodium...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release for the geologic map of the Arlington quadrangle, Carbon County, Wyoming, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS, 2020)-compliant version of the printed geologic map published in USGS Geologic Map Quadrangle GQ-643 (Hyden and others, 1967). The database represents the geology for the 35,776-acre map plate at a publication scale of 1:24,000. References: Hyden, H.J., King, J.S., and Houston, R.S., 1967, Geologic map of the Arlington quadrangle, Carbon County, Wyoming: U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Quadrangle Map GQ-643, scale 1:24,000; https://doi.org/10.3133/gq643. This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release presents a digital database of geospatially enabled vector layers and tabular data transcribed from the geologic map of the Lake Owen quadrangle, Albany County, Wyoming, which was originally published as U.S. Geological Survey Geologic Quadrangle Map GQ-1304 (Houston and Orback, 1976). The 7.5-minute Lake Owen quadrangle is located in southeastern Wyoming approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) southwest of Laramie in the west-central interior of southern Albany County, and covers most of the southern extent of Sheep Mountain, the southeastern extent of Centennial Valley, and a portion of the eastern Medicine Bow Mountains. This relational geodatabase, with georeferenced...

The data release for the geologic map of the Dillon 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle, Idaho and Montana, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Miscellaneous Investigations Series Map I-1803-H (Ruppel and others, 1993). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features (lines and polygons) in the format that meets GeMS requirements. This data release presents the geospatial data for the geologic map that is published as one plate. Minor errors, such as mistakes in line decoration or differences between the digital data and the map image, are corrected in this version. The database represents...

The data release for the geology of Payette National Forest and vicinity, west-central Idaho, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Professional Paper 1666 (Lund, 2004). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines and polygons) in the format that meets GeMS requirements. This data release presents the geologic map as shown on the plates and captured in geospatial data for published Professional Paper 1666. Minor errors, such as mistakes in line decoration or differences between the digital data and the map image, are corrected in this version. The database represents...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides a digital geospatial database for the geologic map of Precambrian metasedimentary rocks of the Medicine Bow Mountains, Albany and Carbon Counties, Wyoming (Houston and Karlstrom, 1992). Attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines and polygons) conform to the Geologic Map Schema (GeMS, 2020) and represent the geologic map plates as published at a scale of 1:50,000. The 358,697-acre map area includes the geologically complex Medicine Bow Mountains located 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Laramie in southeastern Wyoming. This data release for the reconnaissance geologic map of the Hells Canyon Study Area, Wallowa County, Oregon, and Idaho and Adams Counties, Idaho, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS, 2020)-compliant version of the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Scientific Investigations Report Map SIR 2007-5046 (Simmons, et al, 2007). The database represents the geology for the 625,177-acre (2,530 square kilometers), geologically complex Hells Canyon Study Area in two plates, at a publication scale of 1:48,000. The study area includes (1) the Hells Canyon Wilderness; (2) parts of the Snake River, Rapid River, and West Fork Rapid River Wild and Scenic Rivers; (3) lands included in the second Roadless...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected gravity data in the Wet Mountains, CO from September 2021 to July 2022 to compliment newly collected airborne magnetic data for surface and subsurface geologic mapping. A total of 261 measurements were collected across two Ediacaran-Ordovician alkaline complexes (Gem Park and McClure Mountain) and gabbroic outcrops suspected Ediacaran-Ordovician in age. These data supplement existing public gravity data to aid the subsurface interpretation of mapped and concealed Ediacaran-Ordovician alkaline intrusions related to rare earth element (REE) mineralization.
