These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in ASCII format, generated from hydrographic surveys near six highway bridge structures over the Gasconade River in central Missouri. These sites were surveyed in June 2017 to help identify possible effects from extreme flooding on May 1-2, 2017. At the five downstream sites, hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Ken Pierce was a Research Geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey for over 55 years and authored numerous scientific papers, geologic maps, and field trip guides. This data release contains digital scans of 64 field notebooks 713 annotated aerial photographs, and 640 annotated geologic and topographic maps authored or annotated by Ken Pierce or his collaborators. Information contained in these notebooks, aerial photographs, and maps provide much of the underpinning of Ken Pierce's research, which focused largely on the glacial and geomorphological history of Yellowstone National Park and surrounding areas.

A key input for probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) is geologic slip rate data. Here, we compile all geologic slip rates that are reportedly used in U.S. National Seismic Hazard Map (NSHM) releases from 1996, 2002, 2007, 2008, and 2014. Although a new NSHM was released in 2018, no changes were made in geologic slip rate data used. The geologic slip rates are collated from existing NSHM reports and documentation, and no new data are reported herein. The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management launched the Shoreline Change Project in 1989 to identify erosion-prone areas of the coast. The shoreline position and change rate are used to inform management decisions regarding the erosion of coastal resources. In 2001, a shoreline from 1994 was added to calculate both long- and short-term shoreline change rates along ocean-facing sections of the Massachusetts coast. Starting in 2003, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center in West Glacier, MT, in collaboration with the National Park Service, collected avalanche observations along the Going to the Sun Road during the spring road-clearing operations. The spring road-clearing along Going to the Sun Road utilized a team of avalanche specialists from the USGS and Glacier National Park to communicate the potential avalanche hazard to crews working to clear the road of snow in preparation for summer visitation. This data release provides geochemical, sedimentological, and geochronological data from interbedded fluvial and marsh deposits and radiocarbon dates of the section spanning the last 1500 years from the Pallett Creek paleoseismic site, California. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Shell Island East Barrier Island Restoration (BA-0110) project both pre and post-construction for 2013. This data is used as a basemap habitat classification. If repeated, it can also serve as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their project boundary. To better evaluate the effectiveness of restoration efforts, a habitat classification was performed on specific projects to help assess landscape changes. This Data Release contains preliminary versions of two related databases: 1) A fault sections database (“NSHM23_FSD_v2”), which depicts the geometry of faults capable of hosting independent earthquakes, and 2) An earthquake geology site information database (“NSHM23_EQGeoDB_v2”), which contains fault slip-rate constraints at points. These databases were prepared in anticipation of updates to the National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) 2023. Hurricane Maria caused widespread landsliding throughout Puerto Rico in September 2017. While the majority of landslide inventories following the hurricane focused on mountainous regions underlain by igneous and volcaniclastic bedrock (Bessette-Kirton et al., 2017, 2019), here we fill an important knowledge gap and document the occurrence of landslides along the greater karst region on the northwest side of the island. On November 4-7, 2019, bathymetric data were collected on the Sandusky River between Tiffin and Fremont, Ohio. Wading measurements were made at cross-sections shallower than about 1 foot using a survey pole with a Trimble R10 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver connected to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) real-time virtual reference station (VRS) network. Cross-sections that were deeper than about 1 foot were measured with a CEE-ECHO single-beam echosounder mounted to a canoe. A Trimble R10 GNSS receiver connected to the ODOT real-time VRS network was mounted directly above the echosounder and integrated with the echosounder data collection unit to convert measured depths to bed elevations....

This data release includes one comma delimited table that represents a summary of source and target samples collected for White Clay Creek between 2020 and 2023, in support of sediment fingerprinting modelling. This table contains sediment sample information and results of particle size, elemental composition, and fallout radionuclide analyses.
