A three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (3D HFM) of the westernmost western Snake River Plain (WSRP) aquifer system was prepared to represent the subsurface distribution and thickness of four hydrogeologic units. The primary source of data for the 3D HFM was lithologic data from a total of 291 well-driller reports. These data were then processed using Rockware Rockworks17 three-dimensional modeling software. This dataset consists of five comma-delineated CSV files containing well information: location, lithology, well construction, aquifer, and comments. It is one of three related datasets.

This part of the Data Release contains the raster representation of the water-level altitude and water-level change maps developed every 5 years from 1980-2015 for the upper Rio Grande Focus Area Study. The input point data used to generate the water-level altitude maps can be found in the "Groundwater level measurement data used to develop water-level altitude maps in the upper Rio Grande Alluvial Basins" child item of this data release. This data release consists of 1,984 line-kilometers of airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic data and radiometric data collected from October to November 2017 in the upper East River and surrounding watersheds in central Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey contracted Geotech Ltd. to acquire these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic structure and hydrologic framework of the area. The AEM data have been inverted to produce a series of regional cross-sections that constrain the electrical properties of the subsurface to a depth of ~500m. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District and Fort Bend Subsidence District, constructed a finite-difference numerical groundwater-flow model of the northern Gulf Coast aquifer region for 1897 through 2018 using MODFLOW 6 with the Newton formulation solver to simulate groundwater flow and land-surface subsidence. Resource managers and users seek information that can be used to balance the needs of competing uses of groundwater and streamflow in the Heeia watershed, Oahu. A previously constructed steady-state numerical groundwater-flow model for the island of Oahu, Hawaii (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20205126) using MODFLOW-2005 with the Seawater Intrusion (SWI2) package was used to examine the effects of withdrawals in the watershed. Four simulations representing a baseline and various withdrawal conditions were run using the previously published numerical model. The objective of this study is to delineate areas of primary groundwater recharge for the surficial, Castle Hayne, and Peedee aquifers in New Hanover County in order to determine the susceptibility of the local drinking-water aquifers. Areas of high susceptibility would coincide with groundwater recharge areas, likely where the Castle Hayne and Peedee aquifers are unconfined and directly connected with shallow surficial sands, as well as developed coastal areas prone to saltwater intrusion. This model archive contains the MODFLOW 6 model used to simulate groundwater flow in the Treasure Valley for 1986 through 2015. The simulated results are described in the associated U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper xxxx. The model archive includes the MODFLOW 6 model, PEST parameter estimation files, and a collection of python scripts that were used to develop the model. The README file describes all the files and directories in the archive and provides instructions for running the model.

Five discrete groundwater seepage measurements were collected to make a direct measurement of the flux of water across the sediment-water interface. Change in volume/time is the volumetric rate of flow. The volumetric rate of flow was used to calculate flux velocity (distance/time), by dividing the specific area of the seepage meter (2.70-square-feet). The change in volume over the time the seepage test was conducted is the volumetric flow rate of ground water seepage. Flux velocity could be multiplied by the study area to acquire a shallow groundwater flux.

This dataset contains velocity and flow log data collected in 2004 for two Yucaipa Valley Water District (YVWD) public-supply wells, YVWD 55 and YVWD 56. Data were collected using the tracer-pulse method described in Izbicki and others (1999), in which a pulse of a rhodamine dye tracer is injected to a known depth in the well and the travel time of the tracer to a detector on the surface is measured. Velocity and cumulative flow are calculated from the dye-arrival times using methods described by Izbicki and others (1999). This U.S. Geological Survey data release provides a comprehensive dataset of water-quality data and sampling-site characteristics collected in 1978–2018 during a study of the effects of land disposal of treated wastewater on groundwater quality in an unconsolidated sand and gravel aquifer on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Treated sewage-derived wastewater was discharged to rapid-infiltration beds at Joint Base Cape Cod for nearly 60 years before the disposal was moved to a different location in December 1995. The discharge formed a plume of contaminated groundwater that partly discharges to a glacial kettle lake about 1,600 feet from the beds and extends about 4.5 miles toward coastal saltwater bodies at Vineyard Sound....

Alluvial basin boundaries in the Upper Rio Grande Basin (URGB) were a needed dataset for the groundwater component of the URGB Focus Area Study (FAS). A literature and data search revealed not all of the alluvial fill basins existed in a digital format that could be imported and used in a Geographic Information System (GIS). Available resources such as georeferenced report figures, digital elevation models (DEMs), principal aquifer dataset, surficial geology, and structural features, such as faults, were used to aid in defining the alluvial basin boundaries.
