The collection consists of Excel files describing each aquifer test, containing raw data, plots, and calculations of hydraulic properties (Coastal Plain only) and list of references associated with the collection. 262 well locations currently have digital aquifer test data (345 well locations have hydraulic properties described in published report). Aquifer (pump) tests, Maryland Coastal Plain. 1.The collection is essential for the evaluation of the sustainability of ground water in the Maryland Coastal Plain, and it is used as criteria to determine the quantity of ground water in a ground water appropriation permit license. 2.The long-term goal is to incorporate pump tests from non-Coastal Plain provinces/Piedmont...
Website of various Nevada geothermal resource information, which contains 227 geothermal site descriptions and related digital maps, photographs, and information sources. Geothermal Resources of Nevada Two NBMG geologists spend part of their time keeping up this database. Aside from the list of 227 geothermal sites which are linked to site descriptions and maps, the website also contains an interactive map based on NBMG Map 141, "Nevada Geothermal Resources," which shows locations of all significant occurrences of geothermal water in Nevada of which more than 300 are linked to site descriptions and/or databases accessed by mouse clicks; links to the files used to create the interactive map; a list linked to 82...
Collection of paper reports comprised mainly of IGS publications. A complete list of scanned publications can be found: https://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/igs/publications/search.
This collection consists of cataloged metadata for gravity base stations in Arizona, and includes data from National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
Seismic reflection data (in nautical miles) collected mainly from off-shore New Jersey for beach sand replenishment investigations. This collection has not been inventoried. However, materials are available to the public for research and investigation.
This collection is comprised of records of coal exploration drill holes provided to KGS by both private companies and public agencies. It includes paper documents of the core or cutting descriptions, scanned images of the documents, and an online database of the subsurface data. Approximately 60% of the records are publically accessible.
The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) Mining District Files (also known as NVGEODEX) is a collection containing about 27,000 items consisting of about 150,000 pages of correspondence, reports, maps, assays, datasets, photographs, newspaper clippings, journal articles, company reports, and government publications. The media is paper, linen, vellum, mylar, cardboard, microfilm and fiche, and photographic paper. This database is the electronic index of the entire collection which includes links to the most of the material that was scanned through 12/31/2015. Most of the items were scanned as TIFs and converted to PDFs for internet availability. Access is through the NBMG main website at http://www.nbmg.unr.edu,...
This is a vast collection that includes: paper maps, PDF maps, DataMIL online map lab (serves framework map layers for state of Delaware). There are approximately 1,680,000 online maps, 500 paper maps. Some of this collection has not yet been inventoried and cataloged. Please contact the Delaware Geological Survey to inquire about this collection.
Catalog of geologic digital images including outcrops, landscape scenes, specimens, diagrams, and cross sections
The Field Notes collection mainly consists of hand-written descriptions of outcrops, measured sections, gravel pits, and other geologic sites in Iowa. The majority of these notes were contained in paper files, organized by county. Pertinent information from the files was entered in the GeoSam database and associated documents were scanned and uploaded for public view.
A collection of well cuttings from the State of Indiana with a few from surrounding states. The well cuttings are filed in small envelopes identified with pertinent information and are stored in boxes in the basement of the Indiana Geological Survey. Each box has a file number which links it to other types of information. In addition to the archived cuttings, 80% of the cuttings are mounted on lithologic strip logs. The cuttings are glued on the strip log according to their correct depth. This gives the user the option to look at either the strip log or the actual well cuttings. There are 13,455 archived wells in the Indiana Geological Survey rock cuttings collection. This collection takes up approximately 15,000...
This collection includes maps compiled for geothermal energy assessments conducted in Arizona. Materials are stored in 10 map drawers labeled 'AZGS map files'. This collection has not yet been cataloged. Please contact the Arizona Geological Survey to inquire about this collection.
The UGS Aerial Imagery Collection contains aerial photography of Utah originally taken from 1935 to the present, and includes over 125,000 frames and associated indexes, orthophotomaps (semi-controlled orthophotos), and other materials. Aerial photographs are highly sought after for use in geologic, geotechnical, and environmental investigations to document geologic hazards, land-use, geomorphologic, and other changes that may have occurred in a particular area, along with mapping geology, cultural, and vegetation features. The collection contains scanned images of aerial photograhs of Utah and a 0.2 degree buffer beyond the boundaries of Utah from 1935 to the present.
Historical company names, mine names, mine location, seam mined, years of operation, etc. for documented coal mines in Illinois, as well as coverages of mine outlines and shaft/slope/drift/tipple locations. Most of this information is available online as maps and reports at http://www.isgs.uiuc.edu/maps-data-pub/coal-maps.shtml. Coal Mine and historical mined area data
The Coal Quality Data Collection includes results of laboratory analysis for 375 coal samples collected as part of a cooperative sampling program between DGMR and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The samples were collected by DGMR staff during the period from 1975 to 1988 from a six county area in the Southwest Virginia Coalfield. A total of 38 coal beds are represented in the sampling program. For each sample location there are laboratory results for Proximate and Ultimate analysis, ash-fusion temperatures, and major- and minor- element analyses.
The Florida Geological Survey holds a collection of over 9000 lithologic descriptions of cores and cuttings from wells located throughout Florida. This includes legacy logs previously stored in a file format requiring a DOS program to decode. Paper copies of a majority of legacy lithologic logs are stored in 150 large, green loose-leaf binders collectively named “Greenbooks,” which also include original drillers’ logs. The legacy files represent 60% of the collection and are currently being prepared for import into the Florida Geological Survey database of borehole information. The remaining 40% of the collection exist in various formats. Many lithologic logs still remain only on paper and continue to be problematic...
Collection of production history/potential fields/drill stem and other geological tests from Florida
The Oil and Gas section of the Florida Geological Survey has a large collection of geological data. These are stored as one collection in file cabinets and are organized by the permit number assigned to the project to which they relate. There are a total of 54, four-drawer legal-sized file cabinets. The collection is basically comprised of: a) Permit application and compliance documents b) Well logs and well test data c) Inspection photographs d) Monthly production data e) Core and cutting samples. Three sections of the collection as defined by the collection categories are as follows: 1) Drill stem test - Currently required Form 9 submitted for every well drilled in which oil/gas was encountered and flow tested....
