Towed and floating transient electromagnetic (tTEM and FloaTEM) data were acquired within the Mississippi Alluvial plain during March and October 2018. During the land-based tTEM and water-borne FloaTEM surveys, approximately 51 total line-kilometers were collected using the tTEM system near Shellmound and Vicksburg, and approximately 274 line kilometers were collected using the FloaTEM system on Eutah Bend Lake, Little Tallahatchie River, Sunflower River, and the Ouachita River. Data were collected by members of the U.S. Geological Survey, Hydrogeophysics Branch and Lower Mississippi Gulf Water Science Center offices, and the HydroGeophysics Group at Aarhus University in Denmark. tTEM and FloaTEM data at these...

This data release is a compilation of the digital products from a hydrogeologic framework of the glaciated conterminous United States that were constructed to portray sediment and aquifer characteristics within this area. These digital products are described in Yager, R.M., Kauffman, L.J., Soller, D.R., Haj, A.E., Heisig, P.M., Buchwald, C.A., Westenbroek, S.M., and Reddy, J.E., 2018, Characterization and occurrence of confined and unconfined aquifers in Quaternary sediments in the glaciated conterminous United States: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2018–5091, 90 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20185091.

Controlled source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT) data were collected in the Big Chino Valley and Paulden areas, Yavapai County, Arizona, to better understand the hydrogeology of the area. CSAMT data provide vertical cross-section (profile) data about the resistivity of the subsurface, which may be related to lithologic boundaries and (or) grain-size distribution in the subsurface. CSAMT involves transmitting a current at various frequencies in one location, and measuring resistivity differences between electrodes spaced along a receiver line several kilometers from the transmitter. Big_Chino_Valley_CSAMT_RawData.zip: These are text files output by the data-collection instrument (GDP-32, Zonge International,...
The lateral blast, debris avalanche, and lahars of the May 18th, 1980, eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, dramatically altered the surrounding landscape. Lava domes were extruded during the subsequent eruptive periods of 1980-1986 and 2004-2008. Nearly four decades after the emplacement of the 1980 debris avalanche, high sediment production persists in the North Fork Toutle River basin, which drains the northern flank of the volcano. This high sediment production poses a risk of flooding to downstream communities along the Toutle and Cowlitz Rivers and of clogging the shipping channel of the Columbia River. Consequently, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), under the direction of Congress, built a sediment...

The U.S. Geological Survey collected low-altitude (typically 200-350 ft als) airborne thermal infrared, multispectral, and visual imagery data via a multirotor, small unoccupied aircraft system deployed along beaver-impacted sections of the East River and Coal Creek stream corridors, near the town of Crested Butte, CO. Visual imagery was collected in jpg format, and the images were compiled automatically into a larger stitched image (orthomosaic). Structure from Motion techniques were also applied to the visual imagery to derive time-specific digital surface models (DSM). Thermal infrared still images were collected in jpg and radiometric tiff formats, while multispectral data were collected in tif format. Although...

This part of the data release contains the geospatial data collected by the USGS during the Pecos River salinity assessment. The data includes a feature class of the study area boundary and the Pecos River Basin boundary, the picks that were used to develop the depth to the base of the 16 geologic units, a feature class of springs, seeps and sinkholes compiled in the study area, a feature class of the USGS streamflow-gaging stations locations in the study area, a feature class of the locations of the saltwater disposal wells in the study area, and a feature class of areas of interest with respect to salinity. These digital data accompany Houston, N.A., Thomas, J.V., Ging, P.B., Teeple, A.P., Pedraza, D.E., and...

This dataset consists of contours showing the altitude of the top surface of well-consolidated bedrock at the base of the shallow groundwater system in the Lower Gunnison River Basin in Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Gunnison Counties, Colorado. Bedrock altitude was contoured from values in the raster dataset bralt. The U.S. Geological Survey prepared this dataset in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

A large amount of geophysical data is recorded in water wells and test holes but interpretation is subject to significant uncertainties. The data are used in ground-water models; to evaluate potential waste disposal sites; the effects of ground- water contamination, and to guide aquifer development, including geothermal reservoirs. The development of quantitative log interpretation techniques to derive more accurate data and to evaluate the statistical uncertainties in the data will reduce costs in ground-water investigations. Project objectives are to evaluate presently available logging equipment and log interpretation techniques and develop improved instrumentation and analytical techniques for specific ground-water...

Data are for zooplankton communities sampled in 2016 at the Sheboygan River Area of Concern and two comparison sites, the Kewaunee River and the Manitowoc River, which have similar physical and chemical characteristics. Zooplankton were collected by using tows from depth to the surface with a 63 micrometer mesh plankton net. Physical and chemical data that were sampled concurrently (specific conductance, temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen) in water by use of a multi-parameter water-quality sonde, and the results of field quality assurance quality control are also included.

The Bushy Park Reservoir is a relatively shallow impoundment in a semi-tropical climate and is the principal water supply for the 400,000 people of the City of Charleston and the surrounding areas including the industries in the Bushy Park Industrial Complex. Although there is an adequate supply of freshwater in the reservoir, there are taste-and-odor water-quality concerns. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Charleston Water System, monitored the hydrology and water-quality conditions in the Bushy Park Reservoir immediately before, during, and after a unique shutdown period when the average daily 800-cubic-feet-per-second withdrawals by South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCE+G) Williams Station...

This dataset contains the monthly fractions of annual flow at the Rio Grande below Caballo Dam stream gage from March 1940 through 2014 derived from monthly flows extracted from Ferguson, I., Bureau of Reclamation, written commun., 2016. This dataset also indicates the months corresponding to the annual quartiles of monthly flow at the Rio Grande below Caballo Dam stream gage.

A hydrogeologic framework of the Ozark Plateaus aquifer system was constructed as the base for a groundwater flow model developed as part of the U.S. Geological Survey Water Availability and Use Science Program to aid in the understanding of groundwater availability in select aquifer systems of the United States. The Ozark Plateaus aquifer system study area (hereinafter referred to as the “Ozark system”) is nearly 70,000 square miles and includes parts of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. A hydrogeologic framework was constructed to represent the altitudes and thicknesses of nine hydrogeologic units within the Ozark Plateaus aquifer system - . the Western Interior Plains confining system, Springfield Plateau...

This point dataset contains water-level information concerning depth to water, potentiometric-surface altitude, and saturated thickness for the shallow groundwater system at selected well and borehole locations in the Lower Gunnison River Basin in Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Gunnison Counties, Colorado. Depth-to-water data were compiled from measurements reported by the Colorado Division of Water Resources, U.S. Geological Survey, and Bureau of Reclamation. Potentiometric-surface altitude values were computed from the potentiometric-surface altitude raster dataset (potalt). Saturated-thickness values were computed from the saturated-thickness raster dataset (satthk). The U.S. Geological Survey prepared this dataset...
