The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed a regression model for estimating mean August baseflow per square mile of drainage area in cooperation with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to help resource managers assess relative amounts of baseflow in streams with Maine Atlantic Salmon habitat (Lombard and others, 2021). U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering Center conducted short-term aquifer tests at 11 wells to estimate hydraulic properties in the Fountain Creek alluvial aquifer, in El Paso County, Colorado. Data were collected in July 2019 over three days. Single-hole pumping and recovery tests were completed at five wells, and multiple single-hole displacement (solid slug) tests were conducted at all 11 wells. This data release contains datasets developed for the purpose of training and applying random forest models to the Mississippi Embayment Regional Study Area. The random forest models are designed to predict total stream flow and baseflow as a function of a combination of watershed characteristics and monthly weather data. These datasets are associated with a report (SIR 2022-xxxx) and code contained in a USGS GitLab repository.
