This data release comprises the raster data files and code necessary to perform all analyses presented in the associated publication. The 16 TIF raster data files are classified surface water maps created using the Dynamic Surface Water Extent (DSWE) model implemented in Google Earth Engine using published technical documents. The 16 tiles cover the country of Cambodia, a flood-prone country in Southeast Asia lacking a comprehensive stream gauging network. Each file includes 372 bands. Bands represent surface water for each month from 1988 to 2018, and are stacked from oldest (Band 1 - January 1988) to newest (Band 372 - December 2018). DSWE classifies pixels unobscured by cloud, cloud shadow, or snow into five...

USGS researchers with the Patterns in the Landscape – Analyses of Cause and Effect (PLACE) project are releasing a collection of high-frequency surface water map composites derived from daily Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) imagery. Using Google Earth Engine, the team developed customized image processing steps and adapted the Dynamic Surface Water Extent (DSWE) to generate surface water map composites in California for 2003-2019 at a 250-m pixel resolution. Daily maps were merged to create 6, 3, 2, and 1 composite(s) per month corresponding to approximately 5-day, 10-day, 15-day, and monthly products, respectively. The resulting maps are available as downloadable files for each year. Each...

This data release contains the FluOil software and the inputs and outputs needed to reproduce the FluOil model findings for a related publication (Li and others, 2022). The FluOil model describes the fate and transport of oil-particle aggregates (OPAs) in inland waterbodies by using particle tracking algorithms to represent the advection, dispersion, deposition, and resuspension of OPAs in turbulent flows. FluOil was applied to analyze the OPA deposition areas along a reach of the Kalamazoo River, Michigan, after the July 26, 2010, oil spill incident. Input to the FluOil model include unsteady one-dimensional hydraulics, generated using the Hydrologic Engineering Center-River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) 5.0.3 model,...

Assessment of egg deposition is widely used to provide an index of spawning efforts for lithophilic-spawning fishes. However, little is known about the collection techniques efficacy and bias when collecting fish eggs. We conducted a literature review to assess egg collection methods and evaluate egg retention and capture on egg mats. The literature review provided a summary of different gear types used to collect fish eggs, possible bias from the gears, and egg 'abundance' reporting strategies.

Incedental wastewater reuse from streams that receive discharges from Wastewater Treatment Facilities (WWTF) has the potential to be a significant contributor of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals. An ArcGIS model of WWTFs, NHDPlus Version 2 stream networks (USGS and EPA 2012), and gage stations across the Shenandoah River watershed was created to calculate accumulated wastewater in percent of streamflow (ACCWW%) and Predicted Environmental Concentrations (PECs) of select constituents. Virginia and West Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES, WVPDES) discharge facilities, outfall locations, and stream gages were spatially joined to the nearest river segment. Wastewater inputs from outfall locations were...
