Panorama with image 956. [View] looking north along bluffs of Missouri River near C.& NW. Railway, north of Council Bluffs, Iowa, near Iowa Lake, Garner Township, Sec. 13. Bluffs 300 feet high, narrow crested and principally loess (buff over reddish) underlain by glacial drift. The dissected bench-like lower slope is loess underlain by Kansan till, Aftonian gravel and Nebraskan till. Alluvial flat at left and silt bars in river at low water. Iowa-Omaha quadrangle. Street cut in point of bluff at Missouri Valley, Iowa, north of Third Ward School. It shows 50-60 feet of loess exposed in nearly vertical face for several years. Bluff at left facing Missouri River exposes gravelly drift below bottom of this cut, which is about 50 feet above First Street and St. Clair on the flat. Harrison County, Iowa. No date.
