Digital flood-inundation maps for a 9.3-mile reach of the Iowa River along the Meskwaki Settlement, Iowa, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi River in Iowa. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Science web site at https://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/ depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the USGS streamgage 05451770 on the Iowa River at County Highway E49 near Tama, Iowa. Near-real-time stages at this streamgage may be obtained on the internet from the USGS National Water Information System at https://waterdata.usgs.gov/...

This collection of conservation areas consists of the floodplain of the combined streams of the Iowa River and the Cedar River. The study area begins just southeast of Wapello, IA, and continues southeast until the Horseshoe Bend Division, Port Louisa NWR. The area is currently managed to maintain meadow or grassland habitat which requires intensive management due to vegetative succession. In addition, this floodplain area contains a high proportion of managed lands and private lands in the Wetland Reserve Program and is a high priority area for cooperative conservation actions. This data release presents a peak-flow frequency analysis (Eash and others, 2013) for U.S. Geological Survey streamgage 05465500 Iowa River at Wapello, Iowa. These methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles corresponding to the 50-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs). Annual peak-flow data used in the peak-flow frequency analysis for this streamgage was retrieved from the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System database (U.S. Geological Survey, 2022) and used with USGS flood-frequency analysis software PeakFQ (Veilleux and others, 2014). This data release includes estimates of annual and monthly mean concentrations and fluxes for nitrate plus nitrite, orthophosphate and suspended sediment for nine sites in the Mississippi River Basin (MRB) produced using the Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) model (Hirsch and De Cicco, 2015). It also includes a model archive (R scripts and readMe file) used to retrieve and format the model input data and run the model.
