We used visual surveys to document the presence of all life stages of Cascades frog (Rana cascadae) at historically occupied sites. We surveyed 67 sites 1-2 times between May and August of 2018 and 2019. This effort was a continuation of 2001-2004 surveys conducted at the same site pool. This dataset includes counts of amphibians, reptiles, and fish observed during each site survey, as well as habitat covariates.

This data release contains compiled historical groundwater-withdrawal data for the Coastal Lowlands Aquifer System in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida from 1925 to 2018. Most groundwater-withdrawals were distributed to groundwater wells and separated into water-use categories of industrial, production wells, power generation, mining, domestic, irrigation, livestock or commercial. Groundwater-withdrawal data were obtained, where available, from existing database resources hosted by various State and Federal agencies. For Texas, data were obtained from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) from both existing Groundwater Availability Models (GAM), and from historical groundwater-withdrawal data....

This dataset consists of data collected at Badlands National Park (Interior, SD) that were used in the analysis in support of the article titled "Conserving all the pollinators: Variation in probability of pollen transport among insect taxa," which has been submitted to "Natural Areas Journal." Data collected between May-October, 2010 and 2011, and June-July 2012 included insects found in contact with floral reproductive parts of focal plant species, or plant species within a 1 ha plot surrounding focal plant, and pollen species removed from the collected insects' bodies. Focal plant species included Astragalus barrii (May-June 2010-11), Eriogonum visheri (July-August, 2010-11), Chrysothamnus parryi (September-October...

In 1968, the Missouri Geological Survey (MGS) established the Operation Basement program to address three objectives: a) to obtain drill hole and underground mining data relative to the structure and composition of the buried Precambrian basement; b) to expand mapping in the Precambrian outcrop area and conduct research related to Precambrian geology and mineral resources; and c) to publish the results of the first two objectives in the Contribution to Precambrian Geology series (Kisvarsanyi, 1976). The database presented here represents the first of those objectives. It was originally compiled in close cooperation with exploration and mining companies operating in Missouri, who provided drillhole data, core and...

Surface electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), electromagnetic induction (EMI), and self-potential (SP) data were acquired March 9 - 20, 2018 by the U.S. Geological Survey, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, at the Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam near Chattahoochee, Florida. Eleven ERT profiles were acquired along the right (west) abutment, and immediately downstream, of the concrete, fixed-crest spillway located west of the lock to map geologic structure at depths up to 50 meters (m) using the Advanced Geosciences, Inc. SuperSting R8 resistivity meter. This data release includes the raw and processed resistivity data as well as inverted resistivity models. All are provided as digital data, and...

Florida - These data were taken from the Florida Boating Access Facilities Inventory and Economic Study including a pilot study for Lee County: A Report to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on August 30, 2009. This GIS point data set is based on the data contained in the final databases that were provided to FWC on June 2, 2009 in Microsoft Access format.Mississippi - Boat ramps and marinas in the coastal counties of Mississippi are included in this data layer. These facilities were primarily derived from a document from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources website. Due to changes after Hurricane Katrina, some marinas and boat ramps may have been abandoned or gone out-of-business. Some...

Self-potential (SP) data were acquired at 384 unique stations with Borin Stelth 3 copper-copper sulfate porous-pot electrodes and Keysight U1253B high-impedance multimeter to identify variations in subsurface hydrologic flow. This data release includes the raw and processed self-potential data. They are provided as digital data, and data fields are defined in the data dictionary. Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam is located...

An investigation was completed by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs that found 1,132 transportation and utility assets in Indiana are vulnerable to fluvial erosion hazards due to close proximity to actively migrating streams. Locations of transportation assets (bridges, roadways, and railroad lines) and selected utility assets (high-capacity overhead power-transmission lines, underground pipelines, water treatment facilities, and in-channel dams) were determined using aerial imagery hosted by the Google Earth platform. Identified assets were aggregated by stream reach, county, and class. The contents of this data release include (1) a comma-delimited...

Fern Cave in Jackson County, Alabama is the longest and deepest cave in Alabama with over 15 miles of cave passages and 536 feet of depth. The cave is cooperatively managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Southeastern Cave Conservancy. At least three different streams flow through the cave including the Surprise, Lower North, and Bottom Cave streams. Two of these streams, Lower North and Bottom Cave, merge together in the lower portions of the cave system while the Surprise stream remains independent of the others. These streams then appear as resurgences at springs along the Paint Rock River near the base of Nat Mountain. Recent bio-inventories have shown the cave to be one of the most bio-diverse...

This data set summarizes the results from water and sediment samples collected from wetlands near decommissioned petroleum wells throughout the Texas Gulf Coast in order to determine the presence of constituents related to petroleum production. Site selection and sample collection occurred during an approximate 9 month period from September 2015 to May 2016. The data set includes two tables: one contains sediment-quality results and the other contains water-quality results.
Researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and their collaborators conducted a study of the geochemical properties of coals currently produced for electric power generation in the Illinois Basin in Illinois and Indiana. The study follows from recommendations by an expert panel for the USGS to investigate the distribution and controls of trace constituents such as mercury (Hg) in Illinois Basin coals and the behavior of these constituents in coal preparation. A total of 72 new samples were collected by USGS collaborators. These samples include raw coals, prepared coals, and waste coals from coal preparation. To understand the geochemistry and cleaning behavior of these coals, these samples were subjected to...

A table summarizing the inventoried acreage by crop type and irrigation system was compiled for Jackson County, Florida. The irrigated acreage totals were derived from analyses of satellite and aerial imagery. Crop types and irrigation system types were verified during field trips that started in May 2021 and concluded in August 2021. In addition, the table provides acreage totals by crop type reported by the U.S. Department of Commerce for 1982, the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1987 through 2017, and Florida Statewide Agricultural Irrigation Demand for 2018-19.
