The State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) and Division of Oil & Gas (DOG) are currently engaged in a multi-year study of the hydrocarbon potential of the Tertiary and Mesozoic strata in Cook Inlet basin. Modal analyses and routine core analyses were performed on Tertiary and Mesozoic siltstones and sandstones collected during the 2007-2010 field seasons from six geographic areas in upper and lower Cook Inlet. The reservoir quality of Cook Inlet sandstones varies widely depending on their mineralogy, geologic age, burial depth, and depositional environment. Tuxedni and Naknek sandstones have poor reservoir quality and are likely to be of equally poor quality down dip. West Foreland sandstones...

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "Argos Processed Data" (Child Item 1) of this data release. This data release contains all data collected by the Argos System from 47 satellite transmitters attached to Kittlitz's Murrelets captured along the north Gulf of Alaska, during May-July 2009-2015. The raw data were processed to accomplish two goals: flag implausible location estimates and decode raw sensor data. Three Comma Separate Value (CSV) tables are included in the "Argos Processed Data" (Child Item 1) of this data release: 1) the "diag_filteredLocations" table contains one record for every Argos location estimate collected, accompanied by a binary flag that denotes an algorithm's plausibility...

These data provide morphological measurements and primary feather length measurements of Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) captured at several sites across Alaska and British Columbia between 2019 and 2022. The first table contains mass and morphological measurements of body and bill size. The second table provides lengths of individual primary feathers measured from folded wing photographs using a computer software. These feather lengths are to be used in a size-constrained components analysis to calculate wing shape such as pointedness and convexity.

This preliminary report is a summary of progress made during the 2006-07 field seasons reconstructing depositional systems in Tertiary strata exposed in the Homer-Kachemak Bay area. The study area addressed in this report extends from Clam Gulch in the north to Coal Cove in the south.Tertiary strata in this area are only mildly deformed and provide a relatively clear view of depositional systems and sand body geometries along the eastern basin edge and their change from basin edge to more basin axial positions.

This study is an integrated study of status and trends of Kittlitz’s murrelet (Brachyramphus brevirostris), marbled murrelet in two regions impacted by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill (EVOS): Kenai Peninsula Coast and Kachemak Bay. Our overall goal is to provide information about trends in abundance of these injured seabird species that are not recovering from EVOS or whose recovery status in unknown, thus supporting the EVOSTC in assessment of their recovery status. Kittlitz’s murrelet and marbled murrelet two seabird species that were impacted by EVOS, with an estimated 5-10% and 6-12% of the spill zone population killed by acute oiling, respectively. Recovery status of Kittlitz’s murrelets following the EVOS remains...
