This data release provides flooding extent polygons (flood masks) and depth values (flood points) based on wave-driven total water levels for 22 locations within the States of Hawaii and Florida, the Territories of Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. This shapefile represents the spatial distribution of mean annual water-budget components, in inches, for the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. Mosquito-borne avian malaria is a key limiting factor on Hawaiian forest bird populations. Preservation of endemic forest birds and restoration of Hawaiian forest bird communities will rely on mosquito control. While landscape level control is being developed, managers need short term and reliable tools for monitoring and controlling mosquito populations to protect remaining breeding bird populations. Satellite-tracked, DGPS-equipped Lagrangian surface-current drifter deployments were conducted over 6 days between 30 July and 4 August 2016 at various locations and stages of the tide over the coral reef off Makua, HI. The drifters internally logged their location every 1 minute, and they transmitted their positions to satellites every 5 minutes. A drogue was attached to the drifters at 1 m below sea level in order to track the currents at that depth.

In cooperation with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has computed a series of basin characteristic rasters for Hawaii to be implemented into the USGS StreamStats application (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/). The basin characteristics, along with geospatial datasets for watershed delineation published as a separate USGS data release (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9N61WJ7), were used to delineate watersheds and determine basin characteristics in StreamStats for Hawaii.
