From 31 May to 29 June, 2022, a Virginia Tech team of 4-5 sampled the fish community in 30 Delmarva Peninsula streams (Maryland and Delaware, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, macroinvertebrates, and fish health at the same 30 streams. These 30 Chesapeake Bay Watershed tributaries had upstream drainage areas of 9 to 54 sq. km. At each stream, we sampled fish from two reaches using two-pass backpack electrofishing and seining. Reach A was the main reach surveyed by all the interdisciplinary teams; Reach B was surveyed for fish communities only. Reach length was 20 wetted channel widths, capped at 150 meters. Fish were identified...

Thirty water-supply drinking-water wells were sampled during fall 2018 for a set of constituents including PFAS. Groundwater samples were sent to Maxxam Laboratories (RTI Laboratory contract) to be analyzed for eighteen PFAS using USEPA 537m method. Groundwater age data were collected and analyzed as well in the USGS Reston, Va. laboratory. Quality-control samples including equipment and field blanks, sequential replicate samples, and laboratory spikes, were collected to evaluate and estimate potential contamination bias and measure variability from water-quality data-collection processes. No PFAS were detected in equipment or field blanks indicating that selected equipment, cleaning, sampling, and handling procedures...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during July and August 2022 over a distance of 3,588.5 line kilometers covering Delaware Bay and surrounding regipons in New Jersey and Delaware. Data were collected as part of the USGS Delaware River Basin Next Generation Water Observing Systems (NGWOS) project to improve understanding of groundwater salinity distributions near Delaware Bay. The survey was primarily funded by the USGS, with partial support through collaboration with the University of Delaware to extend data collection to parts of Rehoboth Bay and Indian River Bay. Data were acquired by SkyTEM Canada Inc. with the SkyTEM 304M time-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system...

A series of 15 digital flood-inundation shapefiles and grids were developed for a 10.2 mile reach of the Pawtuxet River in West Warwick, Warwick, and Cranston, Rhode Island by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The coverage of the maps extends from downstream of Natick Pond Dam near State Route 33/Providence Street bridge in West Warwick, to the river’s mouth at Pawtuxet Cove (Broad Street bridge) on the border between Cranston and Warwick, Rhode Island. A hydraulic model was used to compute water surface profiles for 15 flood stages at 1-foot (ft) intervals referenced to the streamgage and ranging from 8.0 feet (ft; 15.2 ft North...
