This map contains the distribution of Lahontan cutthroat trout in the ecoregion. These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) "as is" and may contain errors or omissions. The User assumes the entire risk associated with its use of these data and bears all responsibility in determining whether these data are fit for the User's intended use. These data may not have the accuracy, resolution, completeness, timeliness, or other characteristics appropriate for applications that potential users of the data may contemplate. The User is encouraged to carefully consider the content of the metadata file associated with these data. The BLM should be cited as the data source in any products derived from these data.

Using temperature range derived in earlier datasets for the range of Lahontan cutthroat trout in the ecoregion, the following assumptions are made of a future climate scenario.Suitable is Marginal is current Mean July Air Temp + 1 Standard Deviation - Max July Air Temp (30.3 - 31.6*C)Unsuitable is > current Max July Air Temp (> 31.6*C)Results are rolled up to an analysis unit.
This presentation provides an overview of the year-round migrations of the Cui-ui and Lahontan cutthroat trout within Pyramid Lake. This was developed for the "Climate Change Vulnerability of Native Americans in the Southwest" research project, funded by the USGS Southwest Climate Science Center.

The Lahontan Cutthroat Trout is the largest cutthroat trout species, and is the state fish of Nevada. The present distribution is restricted to a few lakes and streams within and outside the historic range. Dark olive backs and reddish to yellowish sides frequently characterize the Lahontans found in streams, while the sides of lake-dwelling Lahontans are often silvery. The largest recorded Lahontan trout weighed in at 41 pounds.
Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci (containing tri and tetra-nucleotide repeats) were developed for the Lahontan cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki henshawi), a subspecies of cutthroat trout listed as threatened under the United States Endangered Species Act. Polymorphism was assessed for 445 individuals from 12 populations representing eight watersheds spread throughout the three Distinct Population Segments defined for this subspecies. All loci were polymorphic (X? = 19, range 7?26 alleles). All loci were in Hardy?Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) except for one locus (OCH 9) in a single population (P < 0.00014 after Bonferroni correction for multiple tests). Published in Molecular Ecology Notes, volume 4, issue 4,...

Naturalized populations of nonnative salmonid fishes have been implicated in the decline of many native aquatic organisms, including amphibians (Bradford 1989), invertebrates (Polhemus 1993), and fishes (Moyle et al. 1986). Potential mechanisms by which nonnative fishes may interact with native biota include predation, competition, parasite and disease transmission, and hybridization, which may operate directly or indirectly (see Taylor et al. 1984 for a general review). Nonnative salmonids are frequently implicated in declines of native salmonids in the western United States (Allendorf and Leary 1988, Young 1995, Duff 1996). For example, loss of threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki henshawi)...
