These data are the data for spring body composition and energy content for adult female brown bears from Gates of the Arctic, Lake Clark, Kodiak, and Katmai, Alaska, 2014-2017.
These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. Specifically, these data describe site locations for rocky intertidal, mussel sampling, soft sediment bivalve sampling, and eelgrass bed sampling in the northern Gulf of Alaska within the GWA program. The dataset consists of two comma separated files exported from a Microsoft Excel workbook. This dataset details mercury (Hg) stable isotope values in dragonflies and fish tissues collected across U.S. National Parks. Dragonfly samples were collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (https://geonarrative.usgs.gov/dmp/), a citizen science project focused on using dragonfly larvae as biosentinels for Hg bioaccumulation. Fish were collected as part of separate park-wide monitoring initiatives. Biological samples were collected from 2014-2019 and composited for Hg stable isotopes measurements by the U.S. Geological Survey Contaminant Ecology Research Laboratory (CERL, Corvallis, Oregon). This data release includes results of raw water, soil, seston, and fish tissue samples collected from 14 lakes within Lake Clark National Park and Katmai National Park between 2007 and 2017. Specifically, these data include total mercury and methylmercury concentrations in water, size-sieved seston, and particulate matter. Additionally, these data include soil and volcanic ash measurements from the surrounding watersheds. Finally, these data include energetic profiling of seston, lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush), and sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) as well as mercury isotope measurements of the fishes.
