These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. U.S. Geological Survey scientists, funded by the Climate and Land Use Change Research and Development Program, developed a dataset of 2006 and 2011 land use and land cover (LULC) information for selected 100-km2 sample blocks within 29 EPA Level 3 ecoregions across the conterminous United States. The data was collected for validation of new and existing national scale LULC datasets developed from remotely sensed data sources. The...

This is land use and land coverage digital data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey. The data was converted to an ARC/INFO coverage by the Environmental Protection Agency. The individual coverages were merged by the USGS to form a single coverage. This theme was created specifically for the National Coal Resource Assessment in the Northern Rocky Mountains and Great Plains Region.

SWPA_alvbsn is a vector dataset of alluvial-fill basin statistics for the Southwest United States. Statistics for each basin include physical details such as area, landcover, elevation, slope and precipitation. Anthropogenic data for basin include landuse, population, and wateruse.

This is a polygon coverage of major land uses in the United States. The source of the coverage is the map of major land uses in the National Atlas, pages 158-159, which was adapted from U.S. Department of Agriculture, "Major Land Uses in the United States," by Francis J. Marschner, revised by James R. Anderson, 1967.

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This 30-meter resolution raster data set of land cover for the conterminous United States ("NLCDep0905") was designed to describe conditions representative of the year 2000 and is the result of overlaying enhanced 1992 National Land Cover Data with 2000 population data at the block group geographic level. Any area (excluding water, developed land, or wetlands) with population density of at least 1,000 people per square mile was reclassified...

This digital dataset defines the model grid, water-balance subregions (WBSs), soil types, and virtual crops for the five land-use time-frames in the transient hydrologic model of the Central Valley flow system. The Central Valley encompasses an approximate 50,000 square-kilometer region of California. The complex hydrologic system of the Central Valley is simulated using the USGS numerical modeling code MODFLOW-FMP (Schmid and others,...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The enhanced National Land Cover Data 1992 ("NLCDe 92") served as the primary source for nationally consistent mapped land cover during the first decade of sampling for the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). This 30-meter (30-m) resolution digital map was developed by overlaying USGS's original satellite imagery-based 1992 National Land Cover Data ("NLCD 92") with selected classifications...

This coverage contains land-cover information for all of Ohio and portions of Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. This dataset was derived from the U.S. Geological Survey's National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD). NLCD raster grids were downloaded from the USGS EROS Data Center web server at http://landcover.usgs.gov/natllandcover.html, by state. These grids were then reprojected, mosaiced and clipped...

This dataset provides a U.S. national 60-m, 19-class mapping of anthropogenic land uses for five time periods: 1974-1982-1992-2002-2012. The 2012 dataset is based on a slightly modified version of the National Land Cover Database 2011 (NLCD 2011) that was recoded to a schema of land uses, and mapped back in time to develop datasets for the four earlier eras. The time periods coincide with years in which U.S. Department of Agriculture...
