This data release includes data delivered to the USGS by ASTRALite in October 31, 2019 and includes points collected in 6 separate acquisitions or 'voyages". The data for each acquisition are in *.txt format. The files includes points with horizontal positions, elevations that area classified as water surface elevations (coded as 41) and bottom surface elevations (coded as 40).

To support an investigation of the feasibility of measuring river bathymetry using a polarizing lidar sensor, optical measurements were collected from the Colorado River near Lees Ferry, Arizona on September 23, 2019. Optical measurements were collected with a WET Labs ECO which measures the turbidity and concentration of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) and chlorophyll. Absorption and attenuation coefficients were collected with a WET Lab ac-s instrument.

Caption from map box: E.C. La Rue maps - number 4, 5, 6. Map number 4 is comprised of parts of a number of topographic maps, showing river mileposts 0-270 and camera stations for La Rue's panoramic photographs 197-314. Map number 5 details Colorado River from Sentinel Rock Creek to just past Soap Creek. Note on Map number 5, "Prepared by E.C. La Rue, Hydraulic Engineer, USGS. May 1921." Map number 6 is titled Tentative Plan for Power Development Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona. n.d. Note on Map number 6, "This map, based partly on Bruntun Compass Survey, is only roughly approximate."

To support an investigation of the feasibility of measuring river bathymetry using a polarizing lidar sensor, lidar and field measurements were collected on the Colorado River near Lees Ferry, Arizona on September 23, 2019. This parent data release includes links to child pages for the following data sets: 1) Lidar data used for mapping channel bathymetry (depth), acquired with a novel instrument that was developed by ASTRALiTe to distinguish between returns from the water surface and riverbed based on the polarization of laser pulses. 2) Field-based sonar surveys of bed topography used to evaluate the bathymetric mapping capabilities of the ASTRALiTe lidar. 3) Field-based measurements with instruments used...
