Survey of geology, geologic materials, and geologic hazards in proposed access corridors in selected quadrangles, Alaska

As part of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) effort to make final recommendations of federal land parcels to be considered for selection by the State of Alaska according to provisions of the Statehood Act, a decision was made to identify and evaluate potential access corridors. Corridor maps were compiled for a total of 78 quadrangles throughout Alaska. This map suite shows relevant geologic information at a scale of 1:250,000 for 10-mile-wide corridors straddling centerlines for proposed access routes throughout Alaska. 40Ar/39Ar data, Styx River map area, Lime Hills C-1 Quadrangle, Alaska

This DGGS Raw Data File presents 40Ar/39Ar age dating results for selected igneous rocks encountered in the Styx River area of the western Alaska Range. Crystallization ages on biotite and hornblende from plutonic rocks range from about ~60 to ~63 Ma, while a sericite alteration age in plutonic rocks altered by a dike swarm also is around ~63 Ma. Sericite alteration associated with a copper-molybdenum porphyry ranges from ~10 to ~11 Ma. Analyses were performed by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geochronology Laboratory, and results were reported by Paul Layer and Jeff Benowitz. This digital publication, GPR 2008-3, contains data produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2007 and 2008 for the Styx River Survey area, southcentral Alaska. Aeromagnetic and electromagnetic data were acquired for about 715 sq miles. Data provided in GPR 2008-3 include (1) raw and processed linedata in Geosoft ASCII XYZ files, (2) gridded files of magnetic data, a calculated vertical magnetic gradient (first vertical derivative), apparent resistivity data, and a digital elevation model, (3) flight lines in vector format, and maps of the data in PDF format. Linedata and gridded data for the aeromagnetic survey of the Holitna basin area, western Alaska; Parts of the Lime Hills and Sleetmute quadrangles

This DVD-ROM publication, GPR 2008-4, contains linedata, gridded data, vector data, and browse graphics produced from a fixed-wing aeromagnetic survey conducted in 1997 of the Holitna Basin area, western Alaska. Aeromagnetic data were acquired for about 3234 sq miles for the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) during this fixed-wing survey.

U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope, age, and trace-element data from zircons at four sites in the western Alaska Range and Talkeetna Mountains, Alaska

This Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) Raw Data File presents U-Pb geochronology and Lu-Hf isotopic compositions, age-dating results, and additional trace-elemental composition of zircons from four granitoids sampled during investigations by DGGS geologists in the western Alaska Range and the Talkeetna Mountains. The purpose of the Lu-Hf and U-Pb isotopic study was to better understand the Jurassic through early Tertiary magmatic and tectonic evolution of the Alaska Range and the significance of that magmatism for the formation of metallic mineral deposits. Geologists from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) Mineral Resources Section conducted four weeks of helicopter-supported mapping and fieldwork from June 26 through July 24, 2013. Preliminary final version of part of the airborne geophysical data from the Styx River survey, southcentral Alaska; Parts of the Lime Hills and Tyonek quadrangles

This digital publication, GPR 2008-2, contains 'preliminary final' geophysical data that were produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2007 for the eastern part of the Styx River survey area, southcentral Alaska. Aeromagnetic and electromagnetic data were acquired for about 180-sq miles of a 708-sq mile survey in 2007. The remaining survey data will be acquired in early spring 2008, processed, and released to the public later in 2008 as GPR 2008-3. Upon its completion, the new data will be merged with this preliminary final dataset. 'Preliminary final' denotes that the data has been processed to the final stage but the merging process may require minor changes to the maps and data. Slightly revised...
