The PAMA is the planning area within which preserve lands will be dedicated for the unincorporated area of the Draft North San Diego County MSCP. It is essentially the same as the Biological Core and Linkage Area. Any development projects proposed within the PAMA must conform to specific guidelines set by the County of San Diego and wildlife agencies.
This project integrates fire risk models, species distribution models (SDMs) and population models with scenarios of future climate and land cover to project how the effects of climate-induced changes to species distributions and land use change will impact threatened species in fire-prone ecosystems. This project also identifies and prioritizes potential management responses to climate change (e.g. assisted colonization, fire management, land protection, dispersal corridors). This map depicts the draft North County MSCP plan. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors established the Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) in October 1997 as an integral part of the County's efforts to protect parks and open space. The protection of sensitive plant and animal species by the MSCP eliminates the need to list the species as endangered under Federal and State Endangered Species Acts and reduces the costly permit process for private landowners and public agencies. Designations "critical" and "major" are defined in MSCP reports (1995 & 1998) as well as in the Sangis_Eco_Sensitive_Sightings_SD database. Sources listed in attribute table. Created in 2009, the SanBIOS database serves as a single repository of species observations collected by various departments within the County of San Diego's Land Use and Environment Group. Coordination of biological species tracking between departments ensures a complete dataset, meeting a specific data standard, and will provide the best available information to environmental scientists, advocacy groups, all County departments, and various agencies.
