This data release includes GIS datasets supporting the Colorado Legacy Mine Lands Watershed Delineation and Scoring tool (WaDeS), a web mapping application available at https://geonarrative.usgs.gov/colmlwades/. Water chemistry data were compiled from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Information System (NWIS), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) STORET database, and the USGS Central Colorado Assessment Project (CCAP) (Church and others, 2009). The CCAP study area was used for this application. This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Near-Ridge Magmatism Constrained Using 40Ar/39Ar Dating of Enriched MORB from the 8°20' N Seamount Chain'. The Ar/Ar data are for samples that record the volcanic history of the area. The geochronology provides time constraints for the eruption of rocks studied in the manuscript. Samples were collected from the 8°20' N seamount chain by Molly Anderson (University of Florida), who sent them to the USGS Denver Argon Geochronology Laboratory for Ar/Ar analysis.

Samples of vein-type magmatic-steam alunite were collected over several field seasons from five mines and prospects (L&N, Mt. Edna, Christmas, upper Mineral Products, and Close In) in the Alunite Ridge and Deer Trail Mountain area, Marysvale, Utah, as well as a sample from the Deer Trail mine workings from which sericite was separated. This data release contains analytical data and images for a suite of drill core samples from the Mineral Hill alkaline complex (MHAC), northeastern Wyoming. Geochemistry data include major and trace element analytical results for 103 alkaline igneous rock samples. Images include hand sample photographs of halved core and full thin section images captured in transmitted, plane-polarized and cross-polarized light. Samples are from two core holes drilled by Humble Oil Company in 1970, and subsequently acquired and stored by Felix Mutschler at Eastern Washington University. Tephra samples were collected by Leah Morgan (now at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)) from the Hugub Area, Kesem-Kebena-Dulecha, Afar, Ethiopia. Sanidine grains were separated from the bulk sample and analyzed by argon geochronology at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre, Scotland. The data indicate that the age of the Hugub Bed, which is rich in archarological artifacts, is ca. 500 ka. These results have broad implications in understanding late Acheulean archaeology in Ethiopia.
