Mine locations from the U.S. Bureau of Mines Mineral Information Location System (MILS) database. Provided to NRIS by Frances Baker of the Spokane office (509-353-2738 or 509-353-2712). This data was provided to BOM from many State and Federal agencies, and the coordinates come from sources of varying accuracy. The attributes included here are a subset of those available from USBOM. Data from BOM's "one-liner" report on 9/1/1992.

This data contains current and active placer mining activity and permits density by HUC10 units. It includes mining methods of suction dredging, placer mining and hardrock exploration permits, along with active mines from the Alaska Resource Data File.
This ArcView shapefile contains a representation of the mine and lease boundaries in the Powder River Basin. This theme was created specifically for the National Coal Resource Assessment in the Northern Rocky Mountains and Great Plains Region.

The state datasets for Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona were each downloaded individually, then merged, and clipped to the Utah and Colorado Plateau Ecoregion study site boundary by Conservation Biology Institute.Original Metadata:Summary: This digest of the complex mineral resources database is intended for use as reference material supporting mineral resource and environmental assessments on local to regional scale worldwide. Description: Mineral resource occurrence data covering the world, most thoroughly within the U.S. This database contains the records previously provided in the Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) of USGS and the Mineral Availability System/Mineral Industry Locator System (MAS/MILS)...
This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of proposed and current mine lease boundaries in the Hanna and Carbon Basins, Wyoming. This shapefile was created as part of the National Coal Resource Assessment in the Northern Rocky Mountains and Great Plains Region and can be viewed in relation to other relevant themes of the area.

This data set contains data compiled from the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) that was developed by the USGS. These data contain the names and locations of mines found in Utah.
This data contains historic (pre-2009) mining activity and permits density by HUC10 units. It includes mining methods of closed mining permits from ADNR, inactive mines from the Alaska Resource Data File, historic coal mines, and abandoned mine lands.
Depicts mine locations in New Mexico. Derived from an inventory of the names and locations of oilfields, mines, dams, towers, and other man-made structures in New Mexico. Extracted from the USGS Geographic Names Information System. This dataset only shows the locations of the Mines from the original Data set. data was reprojected from a state plain system.

USGS MRDS mineral resources was used to determine the proximity of mines to analysis units containing Columbia spotted frog modeled suitable habitat. If the analysis unit contained a mine it was deemed poor and it had no mines this classed as good habitat for this key ecological attribute.
