High radium (Ra) concentrations in potable portions of the Cambrian-Ordovician (C-O) aquifer system were investigated using water-quality data and environmental tracers ( 3H, 3Hetrit, SF6 , 14C and 4Herad) of groundwater age from 80 public-supply wells (PSWs). Groundwater ages were estimated by calibration of tracers to lumped parameter models and ranged from modern (1 Myr) in the most downgradient, confined portions of the potable system. More than 80 and 40 percent of mean groundwater ages were older than 1000 and 50,000 yr, respectively. The dataset contains estimates for total phosphorus flux from wastewater treatment plants that discharge to surface water within the Red River of the North Basin in the United States and subbasins. Shapefiles defining the subbasins are available as part of the same data release in which these data are published. The table contains oxide and cation compositions of olivine grains from drill core of the Duluth Complex, Minnesota. The oxides were determined by electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and are reported in weight percent (wt%). The cations were calculated based on the oxide compositions and are reported in mole percent (mol%). Olivine is a magnesium iron orthosilicate mineral with the formula (Mg2+, Fe2+)2SiO4. Olivine forms a solid solution series with magnesium (Mg) at one end and iron (Fe) at the other. Forsterite (Mg2SiO4) is the magnesium endmember and fayalite (Fe2SiO4) is the iron endmember. This dataset provides aqueous nitrate+nitrite, aqueous manganese, aqueous iron, and total sulfate measurements in groundwater samples from 254 newly constructed private residential wells between 2014 and 2016. The study focuses on three geologically distinct regions of Minnesota: central, northwest, and northeast. These study regions were chosen due to their prevalent elevated As concentrations in drinking water. Each of the 254 wells were sampled in three rounds by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). Using predicted lake temperatures from uncalibrated, process-based models (PB0) and process-guided deep learning models (PGDL), this dataset summarized a collection of thermal metrics to characterize lake temperature impacts on fish habitat for 881 lakes. Included in the metrics are daily thermal optical habitat areas and a set of over 172 annual thermal metrics.
This dataset provides shapefile outlines of the 7,150 lakes that had temperature modeled as part of this study. The format is a shapefile for all lakes combined (.shp, .shx, .dbf, and .prj files). A csv file of lake metadata is also included. This dataset is part of a larger data release of lake temperature model inputs and outputs for 7,150 lakes in the U.S. states of Minnesota and Wisconsin (http://dx.doi.org/10.5066/P9CA6XP8).

Near-surface site characteristics are critical for accurately modeling ground motion, which in turn influences seismic hazard analysis and design of critical infrastructure. Currently, there are many strong motion accelerometers within the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) that are missing this information. This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey over parts of northwestern Minnesota near the town of Mentor. The airborne survey was funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 40,139-line km of magnetic data were acquired over an irregular-shaped area of 9140 km2. Wildlife species face threats from climate and land use change, which may exacerbate how extreme climatic events influence population persistence and biodiversity. Migratory waterbirds are especially vulnerable to hydrological drought via reduced availability of surface water habitats. We assessed how whooping cranes, an endangered species in the U.S. and Canada, modified habitat use and migration strategies during drought to understand this species’ resilience to changing conditions and adaptive capacity. The data included 8,555 night-roost sites used by 145 cranes, 2010–2022, under non-drought conditions, moderate drought, and extreme drought conditions.

Aerial images of Pools 1-13 Upper Mississippi River System and Pools, Alton-Marseilles, Illinois River were collected in color infrared (CIR) in August of 2010 at 8”/pixel and 16”/pixel respectively using a mapping-grade Applanix DSS 439 digital aerial camera.
