This data release includes raw and processed (inverted) data for three different geophysical methods, continuous resistivity profiles (CRP), direct current electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), and frequency domain electromagnetic induction (FDEM) data. These surface geophysical methods were used as a proxy for groundwater salinity in the Paradox Valley in western Colorado to investigate temporal and spatial variations in the position of brine-rich groundwater under the Dolores River. Continuous resistivity profile surveys along a 8-10 km reach of the Dolores River were conducted on March 7, May 16, and September 13 of 2017. The ERT surveys were conducted along 3 lines crossing the river and 1 line parallel to...

The 'Cashin Mine Group #2' file is part of the Grover Heinrichs mining collection. Grover was the Vice President of Heinrichs GEOEXploration, located in Tucson, Arizona. The collection contains over 1,400 folders including economic geology reports, maps, photos, correspondence, drill logs and other related materials. The focus of much of the information is on the western United States, particularly Arizona, but the collection also includes files on mining activity throughout the United States, foreign countries, and 82 mineral commodities.

Aquifer testing was conducted in the Paradox Valley alluvial aquifer in Montrose County, Colorado, including short-term (slug tests) and long-term (pumping tests) stresses on the hydrologic system to determine hydraulic properties of the aquifer. Slug tests were conducted at four wells in March 2013, with only one well producing data that could be interpreted using analytical solutions. In the other three slug tests, water-level displacement was not instantaneous and displayed substantial noise meaning that the analytical solutions could not be applied. Pumping tests were conducted in March through June of 2013 by initiation of pumping at seven production wells screened in the aquifer and observation of water-level...

The U.S. Geological Survey developed a coupled groundwater and surface-water flow (GSFLOW) model to represent the aquifers of the Colorado Plateau and Upper Colorado River Basin. The study area covers approximately 142,000 square miles and includes parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. To support this modeling effort, groundwater well withdrawal volume data were needed from January 01, 1980 to September 30, 2022. These data were retrieved from online state databases. In addition to withdrawal-volume data, well-construction data including depths and/or perforated casing intervals were recorded when available from the databases and/or scanned driller’s logs. Arizona groundwater-withdrawal volume...
