Note: The data were created by dissolving on the HERDUNIT attribute of the moo10hh data. This data set represents the 2010 moose huntarea and herdunit boundaries for Wyoming. It was digitized at a scale of 1:100,000, using USGS 1:100,000 DRGs as a backdrop for heads up digitizing. Huntarea boundary descriptions are part of hunting regulations, which are approved and published annually by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission. When needed, the 2008 edition (First Edition) of the Wyoming Road and Recreation Atlas (Benchmark Maps) was consulted for road information.

This data set represents the 2005 moose seasonal range boundaries for Wyoming. Seasonal range delineations depict lands that are important in each season for certain biological processes within a herd unit. Seasonal range boundaries are based on long-term observation data, specific research projects, and professional judgement. Ranges are digitized at a scale of 1:100,000 using USGS 1:100,000 DRGs as a backdrop for heads up digitizing, and are revised as needed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Current seasonal range definitions are based on a 1990 document drafted by the Wyoming Chapter of The Wildlife Society in cooperation with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and federal land agencies.

This data set represents statewide migration corridors or routes for moose (Alces alces) within the state of Wyoming. The original data was compiled by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department and produced on mylar map overlays which corresponded to U.S. Bureau of Land Management 1:100,000 scale quadrangle maps. Wyoming Open Spaces Initiative at the University of Wyoming digitized this hardcopy data to develop the original GIS layers in 2002. These have since been updated and continue to be maintained by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Funds are requested to provide financial compensation for the permittee (on a willing seller / willing buyer basis) to waive his allotment complex grazing permit back to the USFS. USFS will then close 5,115 acres to livestock grazing, and place 53,560 into Forage Reserve (i.e. “grassbank”) status, with strict language/terms/conditions under which this portion of the allotment complex could be grazed by domestic sheep. Project implementation will ensure the long-term, sustainable health of vegetative communities and create a forage reserve to facilitate future treatments to benefit fish and wildlife habitats. Improvement of watershed/vegetative conditions in upland and riparian habitats on 58,657 acres throughout...

This dataset represents the 2010 parturition areas for moose in Wyoming as mapped by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Delineated parturition areas indicate areas with seasonally high concentrations of birthing animals. Boundaries are based on systematic and opportunistic long-term observation data. Depending on location and habitat conditions, birthing often occurs over dispersed areas. Such areas are not mapped as parturition areas.

NOTE: This layer is a subset of the corresponding seasonal range layer for this species. All of the same metadata is used for this subset. The citation title is modified to replace "Seasonal" with "Crucial" and only the following seasonal ranges are included: anything with a "crucial" (CRU) designation in the RANGE attribute field (Select By Attributes... > "RANGE" LIKE '%CRU%'). Purchase a conservation easement on approximately 3,008 acres of private land classified as crucial winter range. The properties being considered for this conservation easement are located in both Sublette and Lincoln counties in the LaBarge Creek and the Fontenelle Creek drainages. These lands are classified as crucial winter range and yearlong range for elk, deer, moose, sage grouse and pronghorn. Additionally documented movement of pronghorn through this area to summer ranges to the north have identified this as an important migration corridor. Also numerous species non-game birds and mammals including Species Of Greatest Conservation Need identified in the Wyoming Game and Fish Departments “Comprehensive Wildlife...
