Comma-separated values (.csv) file containing data related to mercury concentrations in dragonfly samples from U.S. National Parks collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP). This data release supersedes Eagles-Smith, C.A., Nelson, S.J., Flanagan-Pritz, C.M., Willacker Jr., J.J., and Klemmer, A.J., 2018, Total mercury concentrations in dragonfly larvae from U.S. national parks (ver. 8.0, December 2022): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9TK6NPT. This data set is an amalgamation of twenty-nine original data sets, which represent amphibian surveys in the seven national parks comprising the North Coast and Cascades Network (NCCN) of the National Park Service. The data were collected from 1984-2005, and include the localities of 19 species of amphibians at various life stages, 18 native to the Pacific Northwest and one invasive species.
The U.S. Geological Survey has operated the Precipitation Chemistry Quality Assurance (PCQA) Project to evaluate and document the data quality for the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) for 40 years. The PCQA is primarily focused on data quality for the NADP National Trends Network (NTN) and Mercury Deposition Network (MDN). The PCQA implements programs to evaluate the variability and bias of NADP data. The programs are described in several USGS reports: 1. See, R.B., Willoughby, T.C., and Brooks, M.H., 1990. Programs and analytical methods for the U.S. Geological Survey Acid Rain Quality Assurance Project: U.S. Geological Water-Resources Investigations Report 90-4029. 2. Latysh, N.E., and Wetherbee,...

These data are the result of two years of pond-breeding amphibian visual encounter surveys conducted across a range of pond types (from highly ephemeral to permanent hydrology) in Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. The R code includes well-annotated code for reorganizing and sub-setting the master data, which should make it much easier to work with than the raw spreadsheet. Associated hydrologic data may be of use for other research applications. Recognize that this amphibian dataset is tied to (1) hydrologic projections developed using the Variable Infiltration Capacity model, which provides historical reconstructions of hydroperiod for most of 20th century and future hydrologic projections...

This dataset delineates wetland ponds and emergent wetland vegetation in Mt. Rainier National Park. It was created through object based image analysis of high resolution imagery from 2006 and 2009 and LiDAR data acquired in the fall of 2008. Riparian wetlands are not included in this dataset. Accuracy is only verified for wetland ponds in the subalpine region. Forested wetlands, riparian wetlands, and emergent vegetation were only visually assessed. This data maps all wetland habitat, but was primarily used to locate and delineate amphibian habitat in Mt. Rainier National Park.
