National Fish Habitat Partnership (NFHP) 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for Hawaii Linked to NFHAP Catchments (developed using the 1:24,000 scale National Hydrography Dataset) VERSION 2.0 This shapefile contains sub-indices comprised of various anthropogenic land use/covers respresentative of the risk of potential habitat degradation to streams within the state of Hawaii. This file is an updated version of 'nfhap_hci_hawaii.shp' and incorporates the suggestion from the Hawaii Fish Habitat Partnership of removing trails and paths from the road network to help better represent amounts of disturbance in remote areas such as the Na Pali coast. Subindices are summarized for local and network catchments specific to perennial stream reaches throughout the state. The local and network catchments were developed using a modified version of the 1:24,000 scale National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) as a baselayer.... Variables include land uses, barriers to fish movement, landing strips/airports, mines, point-source pollutant sites, and infrastructure like pipelines, railroads, and roads. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to HUC12s were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire state of Alaska in the way that they were assembled; (3) representative of conditions from 2000 to 2010; and (4) of sufficient spatial resolution that they could be used to make valid comparisons among... In the NFHAP 2010 Alaska assesment HCI values were already attributed to HUC12s. For this reason values for Alaska in this shapefile are identical to those represented in the Alaska assessment. The Coastal Spatial Framework is a layer of 612 distinct polygons covering coastal areas of the Continental U.S. Polygons represent either coastal watersheds (land) or coastal waters (estuaries, inshore marine, offshore marine),and are classified into six regions and 22 nested subregions.
