During summer 2019, botanists with the Maine Natural Areas Program collected data from 94 vegetation plots for plant community characterization. The sampling data were entered into the National Park Service PLOTS version 4.0 (National Park Service 2018) for analyses to characterize vegetation associations in the U.S. National Vegetation Classification. An accuracy assessment was performed on the draft version of the vegetation map layer. During the summer of 2020, field crews collected data from 107 stratified and randomly selected sites for evaluating the accuracy of the vegetation map layer for those map classes representing U.S. National Vegetation Classification associations. The accuracy assessment field data...

The Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument Seboeis Unit Vegetation Mapping Project was initiated in the fall of 2019 by a grant through the USGS Natural Resource Preservation Program to classify and map vegetation types of the Seboeis Unit thereby providing resource managers and biological researchers with useful baseline vegetation information. The Study Area Boundary (SAB) for this project is similar to, but not exactly the same as, the official boundary for the Seboeis Unit. Because of uncertainty on the exact location of the Seboeis Unit boundary, mapping may have occurred beyond the official boundary. Additionally, this SAB is based upon the Seboeis Unit boundary as it appeared in September of 2019.

This non-spatial table provides a coarse link (crosswalk) between the general classification within Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) land cover/use (LCU) geospatial layers and the U.S. National Vegetation Classification (USNVC), current as of April 2017. The Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) Program’s LTRM element has produced LCU data over the past three decades consisting of geospatial layers (maps) showing locations of vegetation and developed lands within the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS). The LCU data layers contain a classification of 31 general classes specifically developed to meet needs and objectives of the LTRM element of the UMRR Program. Because the LTRM classification is consistently...

![]() These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Four polygon vector data sets and one related table describe land-cover in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRC_NCA_p) and Coyote Springs (CS_ACEC_p), Piute-Eldorado Valley (PEV_ACEC_p), and Mormon Mesa (MM_ACEC_p) Areas of Critical Environmental Concern, Clark County, Nevada. One polygon vector data set per Area is attributed with land- cover at the vegetation stand level (abbreviated with a stand code) and the corresponding...

This geodatabase consists of a point feature class and related tables representing sample sites where vegetation data were collected from 2007 to 2013 in Clark and Lincoln Counties, Nevada. Samples are identified with a vegetation stand name and classified from the alliance to the class level of the National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVC; Federal Geographic Data Committee, 2008). The database is also available in tabular...

This layer provides the vegetation map for the Seboeis Unit. Information for this layer was collected in 2019 and 2020. After completion of the accuracy assessment process, 33 map classes represent the Seboeis Unit of the monument. Of the 33 map classes that represent the Seboeis Unit, 28 represent natural (including ruderal) vegetation types, consisting of 50 U.S....
This dataset consists of a map depicting the landcover of the Natchez Trace Parkway. The mapping output was created using mosaiced color infrared aerial photography of the Parkway. The map shows the distribution of 18 landcover classes based on the National Vegetation Classification Standard. Ground-based vegetation classification was provided by the National Park Service (NPS). The mapping output delineates grasses, road-developed areas, scrub-shrub, shrubland, plantation, water bodies, areas of white oak, oak, pine-oak, pine-cedar, pine-sweetgum, sweetgum (including sweetgum-oak), scattered trees, swamp forest, irregular classes, aquatic vegetation, invasive species, canopy gaps, and clouds.Total mapped area includes...

High-resolution aerial imagery was collected on October 5, 2019 with a Phase One iXU-R 180 RGB camera co-mounted with a Phase One iXU-RS 160 Achromatic camera. Images from the two cameras are merged to create 4-band imagery that can be displayed as either true-color (RGB) or color-infrared (CIR). The imagery has a resolution of approximately 0.15 meter/pixel (6 inches)....
