Surface electrical resistivity tomography, magnetic, and gravity surveys were conducted in July 2017 in the greater East River Watershed near Crested Butte Colorado with a focused effort in Redwell Basin as part of a broader study of the role of bedrock groundwater in the hydrogeology of mineralized mountain watersheds. Approximately ten kilometers of total field magnetics data were acquired on July 29, 2017 with a Geometrics G-858 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (tens of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations. This data release includes the raw and processed magnetics data. They are provided as digital data, and data...

Ten gravity stations were acquired with a LaCoste and Romberg G-model relative gravimeter to map density variations. This data release includes principal facts for the gravity stations provided as digital data. Data fields are defined in the data dictionary.

This data release contains borehole geophysical data collected within and near Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, from September 2020 to August 2021. The data accompanies a USGS scientific investigations map from Medler and others (2022). The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center, collected borehole geophysical data and performed simple aquifer tests to estimate the thickness and hydraulic properties of surficial deposits. The purpose of data collection was to create generalized contour maps of Pierre Shale elevation and surficial deposit thickness within and near Ellsworth Air Force Base (study area). Natural gamma and electromagnetic induction (EMI) data were...

Groundwater-quality data and geophysical information for relatively deep wells (wells generally more than 300 feet deep) containing saline water (dissolved-solids concentrations greater than 2,000 milligrams per liter) are limited throughout the state of Texas. Information derived from geophysical well logs can be used to estimate groundwater salinity. Geophysical logs were collected in 2021 from 10 of the 12 wells completed in selected aquifers (Trinity, Edwards-Trinity (Plateau), Carrizo-Wilcox, Sparta, and Yegua-Jackson) in Texas.

The West Fork of Dall Creek is located ~100km southwest of Coldfoot, AK along the Dalton Highway, south of the Brooks Range. The West Fork of Dall Creek is composed of unburned black spruce forest with a burn scar from the 2004 Dall City Fire. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data were acquired with a Dart down-borehole tool (Vista Clara, Inc., Mukiltea, Washington) within both the burn scar and the unburned black spruce forest. Boreholes were augered to various depths throughout the study, and PVC was permanently installed in boreholes WFD1, WFD2, WFD3, and WFD4 in June of 2018. The Dart measures a thin (i.e. ~1–2 mm) cylindrical shell of soil ~ 15 cm from the center of the tool and extending vertically ~23 cm...

Surface geophysical surveys were conducted from 2016 to 2018 in the greater East River Watershed near Crested Butte Colorado with a focused effort in Redwell Basin as part of a broader study of the role of bedrock groundwater in the hydrogeology of mineralized mountain watersheds. Five electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) profiles were acquired within Redwell Basin and Brush Creek to map geologic structure at depths up to 40 meters, depending on the subsurface resistivity, using the Advanced Geosciences, Inc. SuperSting R8 resistivity meter. This data release includes the raw and processed resistivity data as well as inverted resistivity models. All are provided as digital data, and data fields for each file...

The availability of groundwater-quality data along with geophysical information for relatively deep wells (wells generally more than 300 feet deep) containing saline water (dissolved-solids concentrations greater than 2,000 milligrams per liter)) is limited throughout the state of Texas. Water-quality samples are important for calibrating estimates of groundwater salinity derived from geophysical well logs. Water-quality samples and geophysical logs were collected from a total of 12 wells completed in selected aquifers (Trinity, Edwards-Trinity (Plateau), Carrizo-Wilcox, Sparta, and Yegua-Jackson) in Texas.
