The main goal of this project is to ensure that the 2011-13 climate change update to the Baylands Ecosystem Habitat Goals Report (Baylands Goals) and other key, ongoing conservation activities in the San Francisco Bay region use the latest information about the current and future status of San Francisco Bay tidal marsh ecosystems, particularly in the context of sea-level rise. The main product of the project is the improved Sea Level Rise (SLR) Tool, specifically upgraded to inform the Baylands Goals Report update. The tool will continue to be available online at www.prbo.org/sfbayslr. All data layers going into the tool are and will continue to be downloadable from the site.

Future density (birds per hectare) model of Scrub Jay (Empidonax difficilis) using a Boosted Regression Tree model (Hastie & Tibshirani 2000) informed by breeding season avian point count data, modeled vegetation types, and climate data from the Weather Research Forecasting Grell Model (WRFG) with boundary conditions driven by the Third Generation Coupled Global Climate Model (CGCM3) averaged for the years 2041-2070 and available from http://www.narccap.ucar.edu/.

We acquired, federated and curated approximately one million new observations to the Avian Knowledge Network. We used these new observations, in addition to millions of existing records, to model the distribution and abundance of 26 species of land birds in the southern portion of the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC) region including CA, OR and WA. The models were based on climate and modeled vegetation. Using the models we created maps of the distribution and abundance of each species for current (late 20th century) conditions and projected the models to future conditions (2070) based on five regional climate models. The bird models were also used to create maps of conservation priorities...
