Low-lying island environments, such as the Majuro Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, are particularly vulnerable to inundation (coastal flooding) whether the increased water levels are from episodic events (storm surge, wave run-up, king tides) or from chronic conditions (long term sea-level rise). Land elevation is the primary geophysical variable that determines exposure to inundation in coastal settings. Accordingly, coastal elevation data are a critical input for assessments of inundation exposure and vulnerability. Semi-Permeable Membrane Devices (SPMDs) were deployed for approximately 2 weeks at Palmyra Atoll during October and November, 2008. SPMDs passively accumulate organic compounds from the aquatic enviroment, and are then analyzed for various organic compounds. This data set includes a point cloud, digital surface model (DSM), and orthoimagery of the Fighter Strips at Palmyra Atoll, USA. Products were generated from aerial images collected in October 2016 using Unoccupied Aerial Systems (UAS, or "drones") with a Ricoh GRII digital camera. Imagery was processed using structure-from-motion photogrammetry that generates a three dimensional point cloud (.las) by identifying pixels from multiple images representing the same object and calculating the x, y, and z coordinates of that object/pixel.
