This data release presents geochemical analyses of silicate melt inclusions, host quartz phenocrysts, and biotite phenocrysts in samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from mid-Cenozoic rhyolitic rocks from northern Nevada. Igneous intrusions and volcanic rocks in this study encompass nineteen rhyolitic samples from five magmatic centers across northeastern Nevada. Rhyolites were emplaced throughout northeastern Nevada over about an 8 million year timespan (41–33 mega-annum) in a variety of eruptive styles and volumes, ranging from meter-wide dikes to caldera-forming ignimbrites, and were roughly contemporaneous with regional ore deposition. The United States Gulf Coast Basin Curated Wells and Logs Database (CWLDB) is an online repository with stratigraphic information for petroleum wells in the United States portion of the onshore Gulf of Mexico Basin that provides several of the following attributes: a) deep penetrations (generally, total depth of 10,000 feet or more), b) high quality and diverse geophysical well log suites, c) lithostratigraphic logs, d) biostratigraphic units (biozones) and reports, and/or e) core or cuttings samples. Report of Investigation 2006-2, "Bedrock geologic map of the Liberty Bell area, Fairbanks A-4 Quadrangle, Bonnifield mining district, Alaska," is the bedrock geologic map of an approximately 131-square-mile area surrounding the Liberty Bell Mine. The geology of the Liberty Bell area, located in the northern Alaska Range foothills, comprises Devonian metasedimentary and meta-igneous rocks of the Totatlanika Schist and Keevy Peak formations, Cretaceous and Tertiary igneous rocks, and overlying unconsolidated Tertiary sedimentary rocks of the Usibelli Group and the younger Nenana Gravel.
Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle (640 square km�equivalent to four 7.5 minute quadrangles). This geologic map was produced by merging a bedrock geologic map and a surficial geologic map of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle. This mapping project reinterprets micropaleontologic correlations for 17 Sagavanirktok Quadrangle wells, and reprocesses data from the one publicly-available seismic line. Surface geologic mapping, subsurface-to-surface stratigraphic age control, and seismic framework are required to reliably decipher the complex geology of this key area of the Brooks Range. This data release presents high-spatial resolution geochemical analyses collected from Mesoproterozoic apatite crystals in igneous rocks from the St. Francois Mountains terrane and coeval ore rocks from the Pea Ridge iron oxide-apatite-rare earth element (IOA-REE) and Boss iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) deposits. These deposits are located in the southeast Missouri iron metallogenic province. Since 2002, the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center’s Samples Repository supports research by providing secure storage for geological, biological, and geochemical samples; maintaining organization and an active inventory of these sample collections; and providing access to these collections for study and reuse.This collections inventory has been compiled, organized, and released as a searchable database to provide researchers and the general public with means to discover and request scientific sample material preserved and maintained by the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center Samples Repository. Kasatochi is a small, isolated island volcano in the center of the Aleutian Island chain. It consists of a roughly circular cone approximately 3 km in diameter with a lake-filled central crater that is 1.2 km in diameter and extends from the highest point on the island to sea level. The oldest unit recognized is a thick series of mid-Pleistocene glaciovolcanic deposits consisting of autobrecciated lava, lahars, and volumetrically minor lava masses that we believe to have been emplaced underneath a regional ice cap. The legacy thin section collection represents petrographic thin sections collected by DGGS geologists for field projects involving geologic mapping in areas of Alaska with a focus to study the potential and controls of mineral and energy resources. As part of the mapping process, rocks were collected for petrographic work to provide information for discriminating between various rock types and to write unit descriptions of the final rock types or units represented on geologic maps resulting from the field work.
