These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set describes springs issuing from the Arikaree aquifer or overlying alluvium that were used to create a map of the generalized potentiometric surface of the Arikaree aquifer in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Bennett County. All data were retrived from the U.S. Geological Survey's NWISWeb database at http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/sd/nwis/.
These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set describes the water-table contours that were used to create a map of the generalized potentiometric surface of the Arikaree aquifer in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Bennett County. The contours were based on water levels in wells completed in the Arikaree aquifer that were measured between 1929 and 2006.
This metadata is for all coverages associated with the vegetation land cover and land use geospatial database for Badlands National Park and surrounding areas. The project is authorized as part of the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program http://www.usgs.gov/core_science_systems/csas/vip/index.html. The program is being administered by the Biological Resources Division (BRD) of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS/BRD is responsible for overall management and oversight of all ongoing mapping efforts. This mapping effort was performed by the US Bureau of Reclamation's (USBR) Remote Sensing and GIS Group, Technical Service Center, Denver, CO. The vegetation mapping program is part of a larger Inventory...
These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set describes the area within the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation where the Arikaree aquifer (Arikaree Formation) is absent. This absent area includes areas where the Arikaree Formation has been eroded and where outcrops of geologic units older than the Arikaree Formation are present at the land surface.

This data set describes wells (excluding observation wells) that are completed in the Arikaree aquifer and that were used to create a map of the generalized potentiometric surface of the Arikaree aquifer in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Bennett County. Water levels in the wells were measured by a variety of people including the well drillers and U.S. Geological Survey personnel. The water-level data for this data set are...

This data set describes observation wells completed in the Arikaree aquifer that were used to create a map of the generalized potentiometric surface of the Arikaree aquifer in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Bennett County. The observation wells are owned by the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Water levels in the wells were measured by staff of the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural...
