Summary This data release is a field-verified inventory of postfire debris flows for the 2021 Dixie Fire following a 23-25 October 2021 atmospheric river storm and 12 June 2022 thunderstorm. The “README.txt” file describes the fields for the “Inventory.csv” file. The “Chambers” and “Chips” rain gage data referenced in the inventory are included as: “Chambers-Oct2021-Storm.csv”, “Chambers-Jun2022-Storm.csv”, “Chips-Oct2021-Storm.csv”, and “Chips-Jun2022-Storm.csv.” The fields for the rain gage data, which includes the geographic locations of the gages, are also described in the “README.txt” file. Fields with value “-9999” indicate that data are not available or do not exist.

This data release presents point data associated with the geologic and geophysical maps of the Sierra Nevada Digital Earth Science Atlas led by the California Geological Survey and U.S. Geological Survey. Data include principal fact information for new gravity measurements collected by the U.S. Geological Survey from 2012 to 2023 and for existing gravity measurements compiled from 21 sources. Nearly 29,000 gravity measurements were processed to complete Bouguer and isostatic gravity anomalies to provide information on crustal structure, such as depth extent of plutons and arc terranes, and geometry of Cenozoic basins developed along the margins of the Sierra Nevada. Density and magnetic property measurements were...

This report evaluates the volcano-related hazards, including regional mafic lava flows, silicic lava domes, pyroclastic flows, lahars, and volcanic ash, of the Lassen region, California, which is here defined as an area between the Pit River on the north and the southern limit of active Cascade volcanism, approximately 5–10 km south of the southern boundary of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Most active volcanism occurs in a zone about 40 km wide between Viola on the west and the eastern boundary of Caribou Wilderness Area, but sparser volcanism in the west extends the width of this zone to about 75 km. All vents and deposits known or estimated to be less than 100,000 years are identified and considered in establishing...

The California volcano locations, threat rank and hazard zones data release contains two shapefiles for download or use as a web map service. The California Volcanic Center Locations shapefile was created to provide a generalized location of volcano hazard sources. The California Volcano Hazard Zones shapefile was created from previously published hazard zone reports. Specific details about each file can be found in the metadata included with each file and the read-me document for this data release. Together, these files were used to define California Volcano Hazards for the GIS analysis that supports conclusions in the California's exposure to volcano hazards report. Geologists produce hazard zone maps to convey...

This data consists of presence/absence observations for post-fire conifer regeneration. The data also includes estimates of plot-level topography (slope, aspect), relativized differenced normalized burn ratio (RdNBR), post-fire climate, live basal area, and seed rain. These data support the following publication: Stewart, J.A.E., van Mantgem, P.J, Young, D.J.N., Shive, K.L., Preisler, H.K., Das, A.J., Stephenson, N.L., Keeley, J.E., Safford, H.D., Wright, M.C., Welch, K.R., Thorne, J.H. 2020. Influence of variable postfire climate and seed production on postfire conifer regeneration. Ecological Applications. https://doi.org/10.1002/eap.2280
