This data release consist of the annual sediment depositional volume at five floodplain and five point bar sites on Powder River in southeastern Montana from 1979 through 2017. These 10 sites are a subgroup of a larger group of cross-sections established in 1975 and 1977 to monitor the channel changes along a 90-kilometer reach of Powder River. In addition to the sediment deposition data, characteristic of the annual peak flood are listed. The data are in 1 Excel files containing worksheets (10) corresponding to each channel cross-section .

The USGS and SEO Streamflow Gage Locations dataset with locations where ungaged natural flow estimates were taken contains the latitude-longitude locations for selected gages within the Powder/Tongue River Basin Planning Area. This dataset contains the locations only for those USGS and SEO gages that were used in the Powder/Tongue River Basin Plan to model available flow. The locations where natural flow was estimated for purposes of modeling available flow are also included.
This data release consists of tables with the thickness and particle-size characteristics of overbank sediment deposited in May 1978 along the valley of Powder River in southeastern Montana. About 900 sediment samples were collected at regularly-spaced distances from 20 valley transects along a 90-kilometer reach of Powder River between Moorhead and Broadus, Montana. The decrease in sediment thickness and particle size with distance from the main channel showed weak trends, which were caused by the variability introduced by vegetation sediment traps and subsidiary channels.

This data set contains the Public Land Survey System at the QQ level covering much of the western United States. The data is primarily derived from USGS 7.5 - minute topographic maps, with BLM GCDB as a secondary source.
The following report summarizes the dating results from the. Within this report, we detail the methodology used to determine the storage time distribution for a 17 km length of Powder River in Montana, U.S.A. by the age distribution of eroded sediment. This data is used by the USGS Luminescence Geochronology Laboratory to obtain ages including sample preparation methods, luminescence measurement, equivalent dose determination, and dating-related calculations. We recommend that this report be included as the supplementary material for any publication(s) that use the ages within this report. This version supersedes all previous age estimates and reports.

This dataset contains the 14 major reservoirs in the Powder/Tongue River Basin Planning Area. All surface water storage in structures containing more than 50 acre-feet of storage or more than 20 feet high (meeting the minimum standards for inclusion in the Dam Safety database) were initially selected. These selection criteria produced a set of 189 surface water storage facilities. The State Engineer's Office Water Division Two commissioners agreed that a further set of criteria should be introduced to provide a list from which the dams of particular significance to the basin could be developed. Commissioners agreed that in almost all cases, a limit of 1,000 acre-feet capacity and "serving multiple users" produced...

This dataset contains the irrigated lands mapped for the Powder/Tongue River Basin Plan. All man induced irrigation or subirrigation was delineated. Natural subirrigated fields were not delineated unless some benefit was being received from a man made system. Irrigated lands were divided into the following categories based on visual interpretations of the quality of the irrigation, types of crops supported, and the type and condition of the irrigation delivery systems and on-farm systems used to serve these lands: A - Full service irrigation (typically receives a full water supply); B - Partial service irrigation (typically receives a reduced water supply due to limited water availability or the inability to provide...

Contains approximately 3407 point locations of Wyoming Stock Pond Permit Locations on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to 2000, but are located only to the nearest 40 acre parcel. All locational information and attributes were imported from the SEO Water Right Permits Database stored in a MS Access database.

Contains approximately 53 reservoir permits for 17 major reservoirs on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to the late 1900s. All attributes were imported from the SEO Tabulation of Adjudicated Surface Water Rights stored in a MS Access database.

Contains approximately 3111 irrigation water right permits on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to 2001. The water rights attribution task entails identifying and describing the water rights attached to the irrigated lands polygons. This task is included in the river basin planning process for two reasons. First, knowing the water rights attached to the polygons provides additional understanding of the source of supply and the irrigation systems that deliver water to the polygons. This increased understanding contributes to the accuracy and reliability of the service area designations used to group lands by source of supply. The second reason for the water...

The Major Irrigation Ditch Diversion Headgate Locations dataset contains the latitude-longitude locations for 70 selected ditch headgates within the Powder/Tongue River Basin Planning Area. This dataset contains the locations only for those ditches that were described in the "Powder/Tongue River Basin Plan Irrigation Diversion Operation and Description, Task 2A, Technical Memorandum."
This data release will consist of 40 Excel files (one file for each cross section) containing worksheets corresponding to each channel cross-section survey (from 2 to about 40). Worksheets contain the basic survey data (dates, equipment, reference elevations, foresights, distances from reference pins, and elevations). First release: August 21, 2017 (available from author) Revised: November 2, 2018 (ver. 2.0 - available from author) Revised: August 28, 2020 (ver 3.0)

The U.S. Geological Survey has been forecasting sea-level rise impacts on the landscape to evaluate where coastal land will be available for future use. The purpose of this project is to develop a spatially explicit, probabilistic model of coastal response for the Northeastern U.S. to a variety of sea-level scenarios that take into account the variable nature of the coast and provides outputs at spatial and temporal scales suitable for decision support. Model results provide predictions of adjusted land elevation ranges (AE) with respect to forecast sea-levels, a likelihood estimate of this outcome (PAE), and a probability of coastal response (CR) characterized as either static or dynamic. The predictions span the...
