This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides derivative statistics of water used by Kansas public-supply systems in 2015. Gallons per capita per day is calculated using self-reported information in the “Part B: Monthly Water Use Summary” and “Part C: Population, Service Connections, and Water Rates” sections of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources' (DWR) annual municipal water use report (see appendixes at http://dx.doi.org/10.3133/ds964 for an example of a municipal water use report form.) Percent unaccounted for water is calculated using self-reported information in “Part B: Monthly Water Use Summary” of the DWR’s municipal water-use report. The published statistics from...

This data release contains the input-data files and R scripts associated with the analysis presented in Worland and others (2018). The spatial extent of the data is the contiguous U.S. The input-data files include one comma separated value (csv) file of county-level data, and one csv file of city-level data. The county-level csv (“county_data.csv”) contains data for 3,109 counties. This data includes two measures of water use, descriptive information about each county, three grouping variables (climate region, urban class, and economic dependency), and contains 18 explanatory variables: proportion of population growth from 2000-2010, fraction of withdrawals from surface water, average daily water yield, mean annual...

An inventory of facilities that bottle water or other beverages containing water (including soft drinks, beer, wine, or spirits) or that manufacture ice was compiled by combining available datasets from multiple sources. This water bottling inventory dataset includes facilities within all 50 states of the United States, one federal district (Washington, District of Columbia), and three territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands). The inventory focuses on presently active facilities in 2023. Most closed water bottling facilities are not included; however, facilities identified as being a former production site (meaning the facility is still active but the business function has changed) or as closed during...
