An investigation was made by the U.S. Geological Survey, under a cooperative agreement with the Texas Water Development Board, to determine the changes in quantity and chemical quality of the base flow of the Nueces River in a 52.2-mile reach beginning at U.S. Highway 90 and extending to the crossing of Farm Road 1025 north of Crystal City. Knowledge of the changes in quantity and chemical quality of base flow is necessary for any evaluation of the effectiveness of the river channel in conveying water released from potential upstream reservoirs. The investigation was made November 23-25, 1964, during a period when evaporation and transpiration were small and the discharge past the stream-gaging station, Nueces River...

Cass and Marion Counties, an area of 1,325 square miles in northeast Texas, are underlain by the Cypress aquifer which is composed of the Wilcox Group, Carrizo Sand, Reklaw Formation, and Queen City Sand, all of Eocene age. These geologic units are for the most part hydraulically interconnected and generally function as a single aquifer.

The purpose of the pilot project is to trial different methods and vendors of wind power forecasting to determine the best approach to forecasting wind power in Alberta in the future. Three vendors were chosen with global forecasting experience; AWS Truewind (New York), energy & meteo systems (Germany), and WEPROG (Denmark). Each vendor will forecast for 12 geographically dispersed wind power facilities for a year (May 07 to May 08) providing a forecast covering the next 48 hours refreshed hourly. ORTECH Power was chosen to perform the quantitative analysis of the results analyzing methods, timeframes and geographical locations. Phoenix Engineering was chosen to collect all the necessary meteorological data required...

The 576 abstracted references on nuclear facility decommissioning, uranium mill tailings management, and site remedial actions constitute the tenth in a series of reports prepared annually for the U.S. Department of Energy's Remedial Action Programs. Citations to foreign and domestic literature of all types—technical reports, progress reports, journal articles, symposia proceedings, theses, books, patents, legislation, and research project descriptions—have been included. The bibliography contains scientific, technical, economic, regulatory, and legal information pertinent to the U.S. Department of Energy's Remedial Action Programs. Major sections are (1) Surplus Facilities Management Program, (2) Nuclear Facilities...
The seemingly irresistible growth of motorised transport and its environmental effects have led the NRP to also put mobility and transport (M & T) on its agenda. NRP questions are focused on psychosocial factors and mechanisms underlying the popularity of motorised transport, and on technical as well as behavioural measures and strategies to reduce global air pollution stemming from mobility and the use of motor vehicles. In Phase 1 of the programme, five NRP-funded Mssss & T projects have been conducted. Together with one or two related projects, these will be briefly summarised and commented upon. General observations, conclusions and some suggestions will be provided at the end of this paper.
The article discusses a report published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy (DOE) that examined the technical feasibility of using wind energy for electricity generation. The report assessed the costs, impacts and challenges associated with the production of 20% wind energy by 2030. Results have shown that there is a need for an enhanced transmission infrastructure and an increase in turbine installations to achieve 20% wind energy.
