Data presented are results of surveys in 2021 for Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) in San Diego County, California. Surveys were conducted at the 2016-19 nest monitoring locations (Cleveland National Forest, Rey River Ranch, and Vista Irrigation District) and at Lake Henshaw along the Upper San Luis Rey River. Surveys were conducted along multiple sections of the river where permission to access properties could be obtained. Locations were surveyed using a standardized protocol three to four times between 15 May and 31 July. The number, age (adult or juvenile), sex, banding status (color banded or not, and if so, color combination), and breeding status (paired, undetermined, or transient)...

These data were compiled for monitoring riparian zone trends and changes in the Lower Colorado Delta as part of the Minute 139 of the 1944 Water Treaty between the United States and Mexico. The quality and quantity of the Delta’s riparian and aquatic ecosystems have been dramatically reduced over the past century, due largely to significant alterations to natural hydrologic and sediment regimes. The Minute 319 Agreement states that 130 million cubic meters of water was to be released during the spring of 2014. Water was released from Morelos Dam at the Northern International Border (NIB) near Yuma, Arizona, to the river’s delta in Mexico, allowing water to reach the Gulf of California for the first time in 13 years...

These data were compiled for evaluating river-reach level vegetation greenness data in the riparian corridor of the Colorado River delta as specified under Minute 319 of the 1944 Water Treaty. The seven reach areas from the Northerly International Boundary (NIB) to the end of the delta at the Sea of Cortez were defined for research activities. Also, these seven reaches are being monitored under Minute 323 of the 1944 Water Treaty. Additionally, these data were compiled for evaluating restoration-level vegetation greenness data in Reach 2 and Reach 4, as specified under Minute 323 of the 1944 Water Treaty. Objectives of our study were to measure satellite vegetation index data, specifically using the Enhanced Vegetation...

Data presented are results of surveys and monitoring for Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) in San Diego County, California. These data were collected to assess Southwestern Willow Flycatcher abundance and distribution in San Diego County. Surveys were conducted in various years at 33 locations along 10 drainages in San Diego County, including portions of Agua Hedionda Creek, Cottonwood Creek, Escondido Creek, Los Penasquitos Creek, Otay River, San Diego River, San Dieguito River, San Luis Rey River, Sweetwater River, and Tijuana River. From 2016-19, Southwestern Willow Flycatcher territories were monitored at three locations along the upper San Luis Rey River (Cleveland National Forest,...

Data presented are results of surveys and monitoring in 2019 for Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) in San Diego County, California. Surveys were conducted at locations along Cottonwood Creek, Tijuana River, and the San Luis Rey River, and nest monitoring was performed at three locations along the San Luis Rey River downstream of Lake Henshaw (Cleveland National Forest, Rey River Ranch, Vista Irrigation District). Surveys were conducted along multiple sections of the river where permission to access properties could be obtained. Locations were surveyed using a standardized protocol three to four times between 15 May and 31 July. The number, age (adult or juvenile), sex, banding status (color...

Data presented are results of surveys (2015 and 2016) and monitoring (2016) for Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) in San Diego County, California. In 2015, surveys were conducted at select locations along the San Luis Rey River between College Boulevard and Lake Henshaw. In 2016, surveys were conducted at select locations along Agua Hedionda Creek, San Dieguito River, San Luis Rey River, Santa Ysabel Creek, and San Diego River, and nest monitoring was performed at three locations along the San Luis Rey River downstream of Lake Henshaw (Cleveland National Forest, Rey River Ranch, Vista Irrigation District). Surveys were conducted along multiple sections of the river where permission to access...

These spatially explicit Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and evapotranspiration (ET) map derived from time series Landsat images, maps, and associated ancillary data were compiled as part of ongoing research aimed at quantifying the riparian vegetation greenness and water use in the lower Colorado River Delta in Mexico. In order to create trend and anomaly maps that characterize these ecosystems, both EVI and ET from-Landsat-OLI were processed over time and space along seven pre-defined reaches that capture different natural states and management conditions. We used EVI from the Landsat operational land imager (OLI) sensor (30 m) as an input to our ET algorithm that was previously based on coarser resolution EVI...

These data were compiled from pitfall traps deployed at three sites, along a 25 kilometers (km) stretch of the Colorado River, immediately downstream of Glen Canyon Dam, in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Each site had both pre and post-dam riparian habitats present. The purpose of the sampling was to determine if arthropod abundance, diversity and feeding guilds differed between habitats. Sampling for ground-dwelling arthropods using pitfall traps occurred continuously between June 17 and September 9, 2009. The site numbering proceeds from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry. Transects were composed of 10 pitfall traps approximately 10 meters apart in a line parallel with the river in both zones (Upper riparian...

These operational land imager (OLI) value added data sets, maps, and associated ancillary data were compiled as part of an ongoing research aimed at quantifying the riparian vegetation greenness and water use in the lower Colorado River Delta in Mexico. In order to create trend and anomaly maps that characterize these ecosystems Vegetation Index (NDVI) time series imagery from Landsat OLI were acquired and processed over time and space along seven predefined reaches that capture different natural states and management conditions. We used Landsat OLI 30m data as an improvement upon past studies that were based on coarser remote sensing data from the NASA MODIS sensor (250 m). The OLI 30m images provide better characterization...
