Daily precipitation, runoff (rain + snowmelt), snowfall, snow-water equivalent (SWE), and snowmelt, at a 100m spatial resolution for the period 1989 - 2011 for the Upper Deschutes River Basin (UDRB) study area and for 1989 - 2009 for the McKenzie River Basin (MRB) study area. For example, the UDRB modeling domain is 781 rows by 385 columns at 100-m grid spacing, and data are stored in 365-day water-year time periods, one for each of the 23 years in the study period. The data include climate-scenarios for the 'reference_climate' i.e. historical climate period, 't2' i.e. +2 degrees C added to each historical temperature record used as model forcing, 't2p10' i.e. +2 degrees C added to each historical temperature and...

Climate change information simulated by global climate models is downscaled using statistical methods to translate spatially course regional projections to finer resolutions needed by researchers and managers to assess local climate impacts. Several statistical downscaling methods have been developed over the past fifteen years, resulting in multiple datasets derived by different methods. We apply a simple monthly water-balance model (MWBM) to demonstrate how the differences among these datasets result in disparate projections of snow loss and future changes in runoff. We apply the MWBM to six statistically downscaled datasets for 14 general circulation models (GCMs) from the Climate Model Intercomparison Program...

The California Basin Characterization Model (CA-BCM 2014) dataset provides historical and projected climate and hydrologic surfaces for the region that encompasses the state of California and all the streams that flow into it (California hydrologic region ). The CA-BCM 2014 applies a monthly regional water-balance model to simulate hydrologic responses to climate at the spatial resolution of a 270-m grid. The model has been calibrated using a total of 159 relatively unimpaired watersheds for the California region. The historical data is based on 800m PRISM data spatially downscaled to 270 m using the gradient-inverse distance squared approach (GIDS), and the projected climate surfaces include five CMIP-3 (GFDL,...
