This data release consists of the data used to develop SPAtially Referenced Regression On Watershed(SPARROW) attributes models for estimating loads of total phosphorus and total nitrogen in Tennessee streams. These data support the publication containing the Tennessee SPARROW models results (Hoos and others, 2019) and include model input used in the South Atlantic-Gulf Drainages and Tennessee River Basin (SAGT) nutrient SPARROW models (Hoos and McMahon, 2009; Garcia and others, 2011) as well as model input for river basins in Tennessee not included in the domain of the published SAGT SPARROW models. Also included in this data release are model coefficients, the software required to execute the Tennessee SPARROW...

The NHDPlus Version 1.0 is an integrated suite of application-ready geospatial data sets that incorporate many of the best features of the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and the National Elevation Dataset (NED). The NHDPlus includes a stream network (based on the 1:100,000-scale NHD), improved networking, naming, and "value-added attributes" (VAA's). NHDPlus also includes elevation-derived catchments (drainage areas) produced using a drainage enforcement technique first broadly applied in New England, and thus dubbed "The New-England Method". This technique involves "burning-in" the 1:100,000-scale NHD and when available building "walls" using the national Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD). The resulting modified...

This tabular data set represents the average number of consecutive days with measurable precipitation for the period between 1871 and 1997, compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data is from the United States Historical Climatology Network Daily Temperature, Precipitation, and Snow Data for 1871-1997, compiled by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL, 1999) and further processed by the USGS (Dave Wolock, written communic., 2001)....

This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data for the 30 year average (1961-1990) number of days of measurable precipitation per month was provided by the Environmental Protection Agency and is included with this data set (prism-wetdays-monthly.zip provided by Ryan Hill, EPA, written commun., 2012). This tabular data set represents monthly average temperature values (Celsius) described in Wolock and McCabe (2018), compiled for the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusV2) for the conterminous United States. Linkage of the temperature data with NHDPlusV2 is achieved through the common unique identifier COMID. The temperature values are estimated both for: 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. The reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale, whereas the catchments accumulated through the river network characterize cumulative upstream conditions. The network-accumulated values are derived using two methods: 1) divergence routing...

This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data was acquired by James Falcone (USGS, written commun., 2010) from the EPA. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments...

The data release documents the development of a hybrid (statistical-mechanistic) SPARROW (SPAtially Referenced Regression On Watershed attributes) model of long-term mean annual total nitrogen applied to streams and rivers of the Grande River Basin, Brazil. The model coupled observed long-term average total nitrogen loads at monitoring locations with additional explanatory variables (e.g., landscape sources, wastewater treatment plant inputs, and in-stream nitrogen losses) to estimate nitrogen loading to all reaches in the modeled area. The model was applied to estimate the effects of hypothetical changes in land use and discharge from wastewater treatment on in-stream total nitrogen loading, as described in the...

This data collection consists of a synthetic stream network and associated catchments developed as the foundation for a Spatially Referenced Regressions on Watershed Attributes (SPARROW) dissolved-solids source and transport model for the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB). The SPARROW model requires a hydrologically connected representation of a stream network through which loads are transported from an upstream reach to the next reach downstream (Schwarz and others, 2006; Moore and others, 2004). Each stream reach or segment within this synthetic stream network has an associated local drainage area or catchment used to calculate catchment characteristics that may have an effect on loads being modeled. The synthetic...
