This dataset covers the northern half of the Southern Rockies Landscape Conservation Cooperative. It was aggregated and converted to raster by Conservation Biology Institute as part of a soil vulnerability study funded in part by the Southern Rockies LCC. The soil data come from a digital soil survey, the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely sensed and other information. This data set consists of georeferenced digital map data and computerized attribute data. The map data are in a soil survey...

This dataset was created from the combination of SSURGO data. Component-level data from SSURGO were derived from the dominant component in each mapping unit (the unit that had the highest representative percent of the mapping unit). Numeric horizon-level data from SSURGO were derived from an average average across all horizons within a component, and an area-weighted average between components. This data set is a digital soil survey and generally is the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely...

A soil-water balance model (SWB) was developed to estimate potential recharge and irrigation water demand from the groundwater flow system in Florida and parts of Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina for the period 1895 through 2010. This SWB model executable code detailed in the report SWB—A Modified Thornthwaite-Mather Soil-Water-Balance Code for Estimating Groundwater Recharge; Chapter 31 of Section A, Groundwater, of Book 6, Modeling Techniques By S.M. Westenbroek, V.A. Kelson,W.R. Dripps,R.J. Hunt, and K.R. Bradbury (https://pubs.usgs.gov/tm/tm6-a31/) The SWB model was not calibrated; however, various water budget components from the model output compared reasonably well with other estimates including irrigation...
This map service is an information surface which displays what percentage of the soil map unit is subject to water being ponded on the soil surface. Each soil map unit polygon falls into one of the following classes according to NRCS: 0-14%, 15-49%, 50-74% or 75-100%. Esri is providing NRCS SSURGO content here without modification except for some cartography and publishing necessary to facilitate esri user access to these data. Of course, esri will continue to update this inform This map service is an information surface which displays what percentage of the soil map unit is subject to water being ponded on the soil surface. Emerging applications of ecosystem resilience and resistance concepts in sagebrush ecosystems allow managers to better predict and mitigate impacts of wildfire and invasive annual grasses. Soil temperature and moisture strongly influence the kind and amount of vegetation, and consequently, are closely tied to sagebrush ecosystem resilience and resistance (Chambers et al. 2014, 2016). Soil taxonomic temperature and moisture regimes can be used as indicators of resilience and resistance at landscape scales to depict environmental gradients in sagebrush ecosystems that range from cold/cool-moist sites to warm-dry sites. We aggregated soil survey spatial and tabular data to facilitate broad-scale analyses of resilience...

This is the SSURGO soils data from the USDA, NRCS, clipped to the boundary of Bear Valley NWR. Some of the attributes are included in this dataset, but not the entire database which is available from the NRCS. This map service is an information surface which displays the irrigated land capability class of each soil map unit based upon the dominant component in the soil map unit. Every soil component in the United States may be classified under one of the following land capability class categories: 1. Soils have slight limitations that restrict their use. 2. Soils have moderate limitations that reduce the choice of plants or require moderate conservation practices. 3. Soils have severe limitations that reduce the choice of plants or require special conservation practices, or both. 4. Soils have very severe limitations that restrict the choice of plants or require very careful management, or both. 5. Soils have little...
Available Water Storage (AWS). The volume of water that the soil, to a depth of 100 cm, can store that is available to plants. It is reported as the weighted average of all components in the map unit, and is expressed in cm of water. This map is made from NRCS SSURGO data table MUAGGATT, field AWS0100WTA.
