The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-1 Quadrangle. The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This map illustrates potential near-surface sources of various geologic materials that may be useful for construction. Field observations indicate that each geologic unit (for example, stream alluvium) has a definite composition or range of composition. Therefore, the probable presence of materials is interpreted from the distribution of geologic units on the geologic map of this quadrangle. This map is generalized and is not intended to show exact locations...

The Iniskin-Tuxedni Bay area contains excellent exposures of nearly all of the lower Cook Inlet Mesozoic succession, including most of the stratigraphic sections that define the interval and the petroleum source rocks that comprise the basin. An underdeveloped understanding of the Mesozoic petroleum system has led the Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys and Division of Oil and Gas, and the U.S. Geological Survey to collaborate on a multi-year project that includes two major mapping campaigns. Geologic mapping between Chinitna Bay and the Johnson River during the 2015 field season encompassed volcanic arc rocks northwest of the Bruin Bay fault system, and Mesozoic...

The rock samples in this publication were collected in 2006 during geologic field mapping within the Council airborne geophysical survey tract. The analyses were acquired to aid interpretation and development of the geologic map and evaluation of the area's mineral potential. To further geologic understanding of the area, igneous and metamorphic rock samples were selected for whole-rock geochemical analysis. Unweathered or minimally weathered rock samples were preferentially selected for analysis. Non-carbonate carbon analyses were obtained to determine the percentage of graphite in metasedimentary rocks. To help evaluate the area's mineral resource potential, rock samples were selected for geochemical analysis;...

Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys carried out a geological field survey, including mapping and sampling, in the eastern part of the Bonnifield mining district in the Fairbanks A-1 and A-2, and the Healy D-1 and D-2 quadrangles, Alaska, from June 16 through July 18, 2008. The fieldwork provides basic information critical to building an understanding of Alaska's geology and is part of an integrated program of airborne geophysical surveys followed by geological mapping. Specifically, this work provides geologic context for geophysical surveys conducted in 2006. To represent a typical lithology, igneous or possible meta-igneous samples were collected and analyzed...

This map is the result of field investigations by DGGS in 1997 and 1998. This geologic map and report supersede the previously released Public Data File 1999-24D, Preliminary engineering-geologic map of the Healy A-6 Quadrangle, southcentral Alaska. The current map has been updated to include mapping of areas adjacent to the Healy A-6 Quadrangle. Field investigations were part of a two-year mapping program to provide geologic ground truth for airborne geophysical surveys flown by DGGS in the Chulitna region of southcentral Alaska during 1996.

The mineral-resources group from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) carried out a geologic mapping project in the Talkeetna Mountains C-4, C-3, and B-4 quadrangles from July 23 through August 3, 2014. This project is a part of a multi-year project focusing on improving the publicly-available geological and geochemical data and assessing the mineral potential of the less-explored extension of the western Wrangellia terrane. This program of geologic mapping and rock sampling was conducted as part of the U.S. Geological Survey National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program and the state of Alaska's Strategic Minerals Assessment project, an initiative designed to evaluate Alaska's potential...

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle (270 square miles; equivalent to four 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This geologic map was produced by merging a bedrock geologic map and a surficial geologic map of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle and based upon results from field investigations by DGGS in 1999 and 2000, which were part of a three-year mapping program to provide geologic ground truth for airborne geophysical surveys flown by DGGS in the Fortymile mining district during 1998.

The Kanayut River area in the Chandler Lake Quadrangle, North Slope, Alaska, is located in the foothills of the Endicott Mountains. It is one of a series of areas selected for detailed mapping to document important structural and stratigraphic relationships at the mountain front of the east-central Brooks Range. This publication presents a geological map, cross section, correlation of map units, location index, and map unit descriptions.
