This data set is a digital general soil association map developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It consists of a broad based inventory of soils and nonsoil areas that occur in a repeatable pattern on the landscape and that can be cartographically shown at the scale mapped. The soil maps for STATSGO are compiled by generalizing more detailed soil survey maps. Where more detailed soil survey maps are not available, data on geology, topography, vegetation, and climate are assembled, together with Land Remote Sensing Satellite (LANDSAT) images. Soils of like areas are studied, and the probable classification and extent of the soils are determined. Map unit composition for a STATSGO map is determined by transecting...

Soil maps for the State Soil Geographic Database (STATSGO) were developed by the NRCS. Detailed county-level soil survey data were generalized into state based coverages and each state edge-matched to form a seamless nation-wide database for soils. The mapping scale for STATSGO is 1:250,000 (with the exception of alaska, which is 1:1,000,000). The level of mapping is designed to be used for broad planning and management covering state, regional, and multi-state areas. STATSGO data are available for the conterminous U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. This data layer was produced by extracting soil temperature attributes from the NRCS - STATSGO data layers for the 11 western states. Map types represent most prevalent...

This tabular data set represents the soil pH as processed from STATSGO2 database compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. The source data was produced by the United States Geological Survey (Wieczorek, 2019). Soil pH units are approximately the negative of the base 10 logarithm of the molar concentration, measured in units of moles per liter, of hydrogen ions. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments...

This tabular data set represents the STATSGO Soil Layer Attributes compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. The source data is found in the LAYER table from the "STATSGO soil characteristics for the conterminous United States" produced by the United States Geological Survey (Wolock, 1997). The variables included are water-table depth, soil erodibility (k-fact), soil erodibility for the uppermost soil horizon (k-factup), permeability, average water capacity, bulk density, percent organic material, rainfall and runoff factor ("R factor"...

The Natural Resources Conservation Service ( NRCS ) - National Cartography and Geospatial Center ( NCGC ) previously archived and distributed the State Soil Geographic ( STATSGO ) Database. The STATSGO spatial and tabular data were revised and updated in 2006. STATSGO has been renamed to the U.S. General Soil Map ( STATSGO2 ). It is available for download from https://websoilsurvey.nrcs.usda.gov/app/.

This tabular data set represents the STATSGO soil layer attribute, salinity, compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. The source data is found in the LAYER table from the "STATSGO soil characteristics for the conterminous United States" produced by the United States Geological Survey (Wolock, 1997). The ability of a water sample to conduct electricity is used to determine its salt content and is reported as milliohms per centimeter (mohms/cm). This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID....

This dataset was created using the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS’s) SSURGO soil survey data and supplemented with STATSGO data in areas where SSURGO was not available. The dataset uses, in part, the soil data viewer extension for ArcMap to query for Wind Erodibility. Revised SSURGO map units provided by NRCS were used to update the map units near the Colorado-New Mexico border. The dataset is limited by availability of more detailed soils information from SSURGO, because this ecoregion contains areas not yet mapped by SSURGO. Wind Erodibility:A wind erodibility group (WEG) consists of soils that have similar properties affecting their susceptibility to wind erosion in cultivated areas. The...

This data set represents estimated soil variables compiled for every catchment of NHDPlus for the conterminous United States. The variables included are cation exchange capacity, percent calcium carbonate, slope, water-table depth, soil thickness, hydrologic soil group, soil erodibility (k-factor), permeability, average water capacity, bulk density, percent organic material, percent clay, percent sand, and percent silt.
