This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). The NAIP program is administered by USDA FSA and has been established to support two main FSA strategic goals centered on agricultural production. These are, increase stewardship of America's natural resources while enhancing the environment, and to ensure commodities are procured and distributed effectively and efficiently to increase food security. The NAIP program supports these goals by acquiring and providing ortho imagery that has been collected during the agricultural growing season in the U.S. The NAIP ortho imagery is tailored to meet FSA requirements and is a fundamental tool used to support FSA farm and conservation programs....

Pebble counts were used to characterize the sediment grain size distribution of the bed surface for two reaches of the lower Merced River in California's Central Valley to support research intended to evaluate the extent to which large-scale restoration projects provided improved salmon spawning habitat. The Passage Assessment Database (PAD) geospatial file contains locations of known and potential barriers to salmonid migration in California streams with additional information about each record. The PAD is an ongoing map-based inventory of known and potential barriers to anadromous fish in California, compiled and maintained through a cooperative interagency agreement. During autumn 2009 and winter 2010, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), conducted a hydrographic survey using a multibeam echosounder system (MBES). The survey was from river mile (RM) 130 to 142 on the Snake River, and from RM 0 to 2 on the Clearwater River areas of Lower Granite Reservoir. The survey mapped the part of the river that was accessible to the boat and the echosounder equipment, but very shallow areas along the banks that were inaccessible or too shallow to be measured with echosounder equipment were not mapped. Native fish of the Columbia River Basin, and the ecosystems that support them, are an innate and critical part of Nez Perce culture. The persistence of these fisheries may be at risk due to climate change, especially in combination with other stressors (e.g., habitat fragmentation and disconnectivity). Assessing vulnerability of these fisheries to climate change, considering options for action, and taking action will require strategic collaboration and coordination with multiple partners. Here we describe one conservation tool that will help to identify particularly significant river basins of the North Pacific for the conservation of salmon: the first Pacific-Rim wide assessment of salmon populations at a consistent scale. In conjunction with a scientific advisory panel and a peer review workshop we developed four criteria for the Pacific Salmon Conservation Assessment (PSCA) to provide an indication of aquatic ecosystem and salmon population resilience at the basin scale. We used snorkel surveys in the Elwha River, conducted in consecutive years before (2007, 2008) and after (2018, 2019) dam removal to assess changes in fish distribution and density. In total, we counted 54,616 Chinook Salmon, Bull Trout, Steelhead, and trout (Rainbow Trout and Coastal Cutthroat Trout combined) in 22 common reaches spanning 65 river kilometers. The occupancy of juvenile Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, and trout was also assessed following dam removal.

Field measurements of water depth were acquired from a reach of the upper American River in California, November 5-7, 2018, to support research on mapping chinook salmon spawning locations (redds) via remote sensing. The depth measurements included in this data release were obtained by wading the shallow channel margins with RTK GPS receivers and measuring water surface elevations along the water's edge and bed elevations within the channel; depths were calculated by subtracting bed elevations from the nearest water surface elevation.
