In March 2015, the U.S. Geological Survey acquired seismic reflection and refraction data along an approximately 2.8-km-long profile across northwest-trending San Andreas Fault splays located at the Dos Palmas Preserve east of Salton Sea. To acquire the reflection and refraction data, we collocated shots and geophones, spaced every 3 m along the profile. We used 933 SercelTM L40A P-wave (40-Hz vertical-component) geophones with a sensitivity of 22.34 volts/meter/second to record 925 P-wave shots. We generated P-wave data using one of two active sources: 400-grain Betsy-SeisgunTM shots at approximately every 90 m and a 3.5-kg sledgehammer and steel plate combination at every 3 m between the seisgun shots. Yuma Ridgway’s rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis, hereafter, "rail") are an endangered species for which patches of emergent marsh within the Salton Sea watershed comprise a substantial portion of habitat for the species’ disjointed range in the southwestern United States. These areas of emergent marsh include: 1) marshes managed by federal (particularly the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge (SBSSNWR), state (California Department of Fish and Wildlife), and local (Imperial Irrigation District) resource agencies that are sustained by direct deliveries of Colorado River water; and 2) unmanaged marshes sustained by agricultural drainage water. These geotiffs represent the raster GIS outputs of Linear Deconvolution (Linear Spectral Unmixing) analysis of ASTER image pixels covering various sand dune and sand sheet fields throughout the Western United States and Alaska. This particular dune field (DS-1) represents the Algodones Dunes near the Salton Sea of Southern California. The accompanying zip file contains linear deconvolution-derived mineral fractional abundance maps for a two-component mixture model of Quartz and Plagioclase Feldspars, as well as RMS and residual errors. Each geotiff layer has an associated metadata file with further details.

In response to the rapidly evolving conditions at the Salton Sea with the emergence of both newly formed wetland habitat and increasing hazards to wildlife, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Geological Survey have funded a re-evaluation of data gaps regarding selenium concentrations in biota the region. As part of this work, selenium concentrations in biological tissue samples were compiled from published reports, public databases, and unpublished archives into a tabulated spreadsheet. Since the California Department of Water Resources summarized selenium biological data in 2005, our compilation efforts focused on the 2005 through 2020 range. Data were obtained as part of a project assessing risk to the federal and California listed endangered Yuma Ridgway's rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis) populations resulting from selenium contaminated agricultural runoff and to inform habitat restoration and management decisions. These data include site information for call count stations used to monitor secretive marshbirds, specifically Yuma Ridgway's rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis), at and near the Salton Sea and Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge (SBSSNWR) in 2016 and complete count information for four species of secretive marshbird [Yuma Ridgway's rail, Virginia rail (Rallus limicola), Sora (Porzana carolina), American bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus)], detected among surveys at those sites between March 8 and April 17, 2016. Also included is location information from Yuma Ridgway’s rails marked with radio-downloaded GPS transmitters and tracked between April 4 and November 17, 2016.
