This part of the data release contains historical streamflow data compiled from the literature and evaporation loss estimates used in the streamflow gain loss equation. These digital data accompany Houston, N.A., Thomas, J.V., Ging, P.B., Teeple, A.P., Pedraza, D.E., and Wallace, D.S., 2019, Pecos River Basin Salinity Assessment, Santa Rosa Lake, New Mexico to the Confluence of the Pecos River and the Rio Grande, Texas,2015: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2019-5071, https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20195071.

The 'Norma and Bourbon Claims' file is part of the Grover Heinrichs mining collection. Grover was the Vice President of Heinrichs GEOEXploration, located in Tucson, Arizona. The collection contains over 1,400 folders including economic geology reports, maps, photos, correspondence, drill logs and other related materials. The focus of much of the information is on the western United States, particularly Arizona, but the collection also includes files on mining activity throughout the United States, foreign countries, and 82 mineral commodities.

This Data Release contains various types of hydrologic and geologic data from the Pecos River Basin during1900–2015, including water-quality data compiled and synthesized from various sources (including data from water-quality samples collected by the USGS in 2015 from 26 sites), streamflow gain-loss data collected by the USGS in 2015 and historical streamflow gain-loss data compiled from the literature, the horizontal extent of and depth to the base of the 16 geologic and hydrogeologic units that underlie the study area, and geospatial data collected by the USGS. The data were used to complete a detailed salinity assessment of the Pecos River from Santa Rosa Lake, New Mexico to the Confluence of the Pecos River...

This release provides the data for a comprehensive survey of geologic structures in the eastern Española Basin of the Rio Grande rift, New Mexico. The release includes data and analyses from 53 individual fault zones and 22 other brittle structures, such as breccia zones, joints, and veins, investigated at a total of just over 100 sites. Structures were examined and compared from poorly lithified Tertiary sediments, as well as Paleozoic sedimentary and Proterozoic crystalline rocks. Data and analyses, include geologic maps; field observations and measurements; orientation, kinematic paleostress analyses and modeling; statistical examination of 575 fault trace lengths derived from aeromagnetic data in the Española...

This part of the data release contains the water-level measurement data compiled and synthesized from various sources. This collection includes two tables that contain all the water-level measurements that were considered to develop the water-level altitude maps (Input_VisGWDB), and a table of median water-level data that were used to develop the water-level altitude maps (MedianWaterLevelData). These digital data accompany Houston, N.A., Thomas, J.V., Foster, L.K., Pedraza, D.E., and Welborn, T.L., 2020, Hydrogeologic framework, groundwater-level Altitudes, groundwater-level changes, and groundwater-storage changes in selected alluvial basins of the upper Rio Grande Focus Area Study, Colorado, New Mexico, and...

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2007 in and near the San Luis Valley, Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including MT surveys, in the San Luis Valley to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aquifers of the Rio Grande rift. The shallow unconfined and the deeper confined Santa Fe Group aquifers in the San Luis Basin are the main sources of municipal water for the region. The population of the San Luis Valley region is growing rapidly and water shortfalls could have serious consequences. Future growth and land management...

Understanding how changing climatic conditions affect streamflow volume and timing is critical for effective water management. In the Rio Grande Basin of the southwest U.S., decreasing snowpack, increasing minimum temperatures, and decreasing streamflow have been observed in recent decades, but the effects of hydroclimatic changes on baseflow, or groundwater discharge to streams, have not been investigated. The dataset created in this data release was used to help support a study to determine how trends in precipitation, snowpack accumulation, and snowmelt rate relate to streamflow, baseflow, and the hydrologic partitioning of baseflow and runoff at 12 sites in the Upper Rio Grande Basin (URGB) during 1980 to 2015....

This dataset provides well-site information and construction data for wells SF-3A, SF-3B, SF-3C, SF-4A, SF-4B, SF-4C, SF-5A, SF-5B, and SF-5C that were installed in the Buckman well field, Santa Fe County, New Mexico. The data include well-site information, borehole diameters and depths, well casing and screen diameters and depths, and annular materials and depths. The data were collected by contract and USGS personnel during drilling of the wells in the fall of 1987.
